Ugh, this is seriously embarrassing. Looks like Capcom learned the wrong lesson from Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition... What little respect I had for them is now gone.

Like I said, it's amazing that in less than 2 years Capcom's plunged from being easily the best Wii 3rd Party (Zack & Wiki, RE4: Wii, RE: Umbrella Chronicles, Mega Man 9, Okami) to being one that I have trouble caring about anymore.  Ironically, the company that's taken their place is the typically-mediocre Sega of all companies with House of the Dead: Overkill, Madworld, and the Conduit (yeah, I know Sega didn't actually make any of these games, but they did publish them over here).

Now, to be fair I did take a look at that initial trailer, and Darkside Chronicles does look like a good game and it actually looks pretty good graphically (they also seem to have realized that not seeing your teammates outside cutscenes was pretty lame in the first game).  It's also based on my second-favorite RE game, and I'll probably buy it.  But damn it, Capcom!  Where's the big epic RE experience (ala RE4) on Wii?  A Rail Shooter is a perfectly enjoyable experience, but I want more than what a Rail Shooter can provide from this franchise.

What do you expect? They are making a sequel to a very successful game in UC, is that somehow odd now? Also in regards to the ports, that is Capcom, who has always loved ports.

Resident Evil 1 and Street Fighter 2 are at war to see which game has been milked the most. So far ST 2 is winning.

Better, warmer...

CORRECTION: The original article stated that the Japanese titles featured Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition controls. This information was gathered from old Famitsu translations and is not accurate.

How is this any different than Nintendo's "New Play Control!" line? Maybe Nintendo should approach Capcom and see if they would like to use the label.

Not sure I will get either port. I have heard mixed impressions on the Japanese versions.

Nintendo added wide screen, some minor new elements in each game (Picture in Picture in Mario Power Tennis, day replays in Pikmin), new controls without using the gamecube/classic controls as a crutch and games that didn't support progressive scan now do.

This actually is what I expected, and I even sort of called this one:

I've got a bad feeling this is going to be something like... the Resident Evil remake on the GameCube being re-released with Wii controls.

I can’t say I am disappointed because it is what I expected, and I’ve never played a Resident Evil game anyway. As a Wii owner though treatment like this is pretty embarrassing… though I suppose if I cared about my image I wouldn’t own a Wii. ;)

I am astounded by how Capcom has embraced remaking/porting from generation to generation. Is it unprecedented? First they remake RE for GC, then they remake the REmake for wii? It's almost as if Capcom will just deliver those two games, plus 4, over and over again to Nintendo consoles.

Hell, I'd have KILLED for an RE2 Wiimake. It'd have been instabuy using the Wiimote to aim. I've actually never played it. But RE0 and RE1? And if they lack Wiimote aiming, I'm even more turned off.

RE: DC though, I'm excited for!

Aside from the minor graphical upgrades that come with moving to Wii (widescreen, progressive scan support), I don't see the point in these re-releases.  But how exactly did you think you'd be able to use the "Wiimote to aim" in a 3rd person game that uses fixed camera angles?  What, just click on them and they die?

That would require effort, something Capcom isn't too into lately with Wii.
