Meh, all racing games can control well with Wii's motion sensor capabilities it just comes down to nailing the sensitivity right. I think Speed Racer nailed it well on the Wii.

Nick's review of Speed Racer said that has a similar track and speed design of F-zero, and it controls well with the Wii Wheel or ExciteTruck style of controls

I'm sure any potential F-Zero game would offer multiple control styles just like Mario Kart Wii does.

F-Zero is all about skill, Excite Truck/Mario Kart controls can only add to that dynamic. I fully endorse them.

F-Zero with M+ support could be very interesting. You could change entire dynamics of the game.

If it used Motion Plus then it couldn't use the Wii Wheel. Unless... they release some sort of Wii Wheel Plus... *shudders*

The wheel's small size already makes it negligible in my eyes. A bigger one would be great!

A bigger wheel could be useful for a monster truck or 18 wheeler racing game ;)

I wonder if we'll ever see a new Stunt Race FX.

The wheel is just a hunk of plastic for you to hold. You can still do a wheel-style control scheme without the wheel.

Also, this looks exactly the same as Excite Truck, and while I loved Excite Truck, no real new offerings means I won't be coming back for seconds.

Racing as transformer-bugs with 8-player online aren't new offerings?

Or a bigger wheel could be the same size as a car steering wheel making it more practical.

Yeah, but the wheel makes it a lot easier to hold. Plus then Nintendo couldn't sell more Wii Wheels.

Don't be silly, of course not. A sequel must contain all-new content otherwise it isn't worthwhile. Only Final Fantasy games are real sequels since everything about them, from the characters to the items to the story to the battle system, is all different.

Being transformer bugs, interestingly enough, has not altered the gameplay in any way except for adding those stupid grabby poles. And online isn't a huge attraction for me since most of the people I play games with don't have a Wii, and of the ones who do, none of them care in the slightest about Excite _____.

The transformer bugs have a running mode that is different as well as all the kooky mini-challenges that are new.

No I see where Dirk comes from, I think the game need a visual overhaul, the game looks and probably feels 90% the same as exite truck.  Also it has a cheapness to it that I just don't like. However, I will check the game out.

When does this come out? (don't feel like reading thru 4 pages, sorry guys)

I might pick it up for the online multiplayer since that was the one area ExciteTruck was really lacking in. I didn't have any fun playing local multiplayer either since 1v1 is lame. I don't know much about this game, like how the transforming vehicles spice up gameplay or the 'grabby poles' mentioned earlier, but my faith in ExciteTruck would lead me to buy this one almost instantly.

I don't like how it seems to have MK-style weapons, those suck IMO. Randomness is not good and Excite Truck was nice for making your car pretty much fixed, when you enter a situation you always do so with the same tools instead of holding a random item that may allow shortcuts or knock a player out.

A bigger wheel could be useful for a monster truck or 18 wheeler racing game ;)

Would weight too much, a car wheel is held up by the car and only needs the force for turning applied, a Wii wheel is held by the player.

Nice that's close enough for May's Wi-Fi night, or we can organize an EXCITE Wi-Fi night on the week of release, to celebrate the release of this title.

Edit: Pale gave me the green light to organize a Excitebots: Trick Racing Wi-Fi night at around the release week, I'll draft up some ideas about possible dates and we will have a vote. Stay tuned guys :)

IGN has a new interview up with the creators and they confirm no WiiWpeak support and no custom soundtrack from the SD card.

It also sheds some light on the different tricks you can do and what benefit there is to doing them.

Here's the article.

You can also place bets to earn extra points for unlocks like statues, videos and paint jobs. The game will also have an achievement like system.

no sd support is incredibly disappointing considering the last game had it and it was a launch title.

i would have hoped for WiiSpeak but I wonder if that would have impacted speed of the racer..who knows

You know, considering they have been working on this for two years I wonder if they couldn't have easily added it into the game since the project was already pretty far along.
