i think some of the ideas behind Aidyn were pretty sound, but it was an entirely shoddy game even by n64 standards. It was just sickeningly poorly made. Poorly programed, bad cut scenes, terrible controls, terrible presentation, terrible gameplay. At the time I was hoping for something in the vein of Zelda meets final fantasy but it was not to be. I own both RPGs on n64(lol both), and I have to say for as much crap as Quest 64 got it wasn't a bad game at all. It was well made. The lands were varied, the progression was epic, the music was good, the gameplay was much better then Aidyn's. All Quest 64 needed was a story, which Aidyn had, but all the story in the world can't save you from an utter crapfest of unfuness and sickening product.
Sure quest was an easy one, a kiddified game, usually critics would refer it as a starter rpg, but it has a lot of things I liked that i don't think any RPGs that have come out lately have.
Then there were a couple of RPG-like games like Mystical Ninja which were fantastic in my opinion. Then there Ogre Battle 64(strategy rpg), which i wish i had.
