I haven't tried it with a steak yet, but since you've mentioned it, it does sound pretty good.
My next step though is to foil broil a burger then grill the outside to brown it some more and add those grill marks(might do it on my foreman, not as good as fire grill, but I don't have one of those in my kitchen?). Then I'll add all the onions, mushrooms and whatever else get foil broiled with the burger back on top after melting some cheese(Cheddar & Jack or mozzarella) and putting some bacon on top.
^That sound too good not to do right now.... but I don't want to go to the store for ingredients.
