Miyamoto has hinted that they have another Mario in the works. The Wii has its share of similarities to the NES as has been pointed out, well the NES is the only Nintendo console to have more than one Mario game.

If they announce a new Zelda for the Wii I expect they will push it as a groundbreaking experience, probably leagues different from TP.

We can only hope.

Still, while I don't think Zelda only can boost sales past the PS2. While Zelda is the best example of classic gaming, I fully expect Nintendo to announce another Wii____ series. My guess is Wii Health.

Wii Health is essentially Wii Fit.

I know, but instead of calling it Wii Fit 2, they'll call it Wii Health. At least, I would.

When Miyamoto says they have another Mario in the works, it just means that him and others are thinking of idea's for the next Mario, not that it's in development.

The only reason people think another Mario is in the works is because Nintendo has said the Mario Team is working on another title.  The Mario Team in reality is Tokyo EAD, and all those comments meant is that Tokyo EAD is working on some game.

Nintendo just calls Tokyo EAD the Mario Team during certain interviews so the average person can realize who they are.  Kind of like how Movie studio's have to say from the people who brought you this movie instead of the names of the actual people, since the average person only knows the product and not those behind the product.

Well the SNES had Yoshi's Island which was basically Super Mario World 2.

I'm pretty sure it was in Famitsu where Miyamoto expressed interest in making a Mario Galaxy 2, there's no way the'd released a Mario Galaxy 2 on the next console. It'd would be entirely different. So there are signs that a new Mario may be released on Wii.

I hope the next Mario game is something along the lines of the Super Mario Bros. games from the NES days. Obviously, the DS has "New Super Mario Bros." and that's fine, but I want to see "Super Mario Bros. 4" which would be a completely new game and not a rehash. They should have the suits like in SMB3 where you could turn into a boot or a frog, because those were cool, but they should have new and exciting suits as well... like maybe a suit that turns Mario into a caterpillar or something, lol. Then he could weave himself into a cocoon and metamorph into a butterfly or something... that would be cool.

1. NSMB was not a rehash. Sure, it's a bit closer to SMB1 because it had no flight item but IMO that makes the game better, flight items tend to allow a lot of breaking and often make the fireflower useless (because it doesn't work on most enemies...)
2. The suits were a confusing mess IMO, super-rare items that you got almost no opportunity to use. Yes, NSMB has the same with the micro and macro mushrooms and the blue shell but those were way more common than the suits (so there was no "oh no I mustn't use it because I can't get another!" feeling) and had more uses IMO with two of them being specifically for finding secrets and one being a kind of star power.

NSMB is easily the best reason to own a DS. It's funny when you look back at the DS and there's nothing worth mentioning over NSMB. I mean there's plenty of awesome games, but there's nothing quite as encompassing as NSMB.

I can't believe JUNE is only three weeks away.  ****, 2009 still feels new to me.  I'm thinking about things I did "recently" and it turns out they were in January.

It's actually pretty exciting to hear it's so close.  I have mentioned this E3 being "do or die" for me as a Nintendo fan but thinking about it I'm excited.  I WANT them to deliver the goods and although I'm skeptical there's still part of me thinking "what if they really deliver?  Wouldn't that be awesome?!  What if there's some game I just HAVE to have and will count the days until its release?!!"  E3 used to be like Christmas morning for gamers and now it's back the way it's supposed to be.  You can't help to get somewhat hyped up about that. :)
