What we are looking at are the cumulative Wii and DS sales through the end of 2008. Wii has been selling at industry’s record pace so far, and with new customers acquired by the gaming population expansion efforts, it is not impossible for Wii’s total sales to exceed the final install base of PS2. Wii still has much more room for expansion. We can expect more sales of software in the next fiscal year than in the current year. With what kind of software is Nintendo going to achieve this goal? Well, it will be shown at E3 to be held in the U.S. this June.

So prepare for software HYPE-rdrive.

I suggest that everyone not hype up E3 to much.

The opposite rule is in effect until we get closer; anything Iwata or Reggie says in the next 5 months is the opposite of the truth.

I expect a near-finished Pikmin 3 and WS Resort, and a Zelda trailer.

Well, This E3 for Nintendo is already going to be great...if you just list the games we already KNOW about.

Punch Out
Wii Sports Resort
Sin and Punishment 2
Tracy Memory 2

possibly:
Endless Ocean 2

3rd party developer:
The Conduit

If Nintendo has even just 1 or 2 suprise announcements then the E3 conference will be one of the best for Nintendo.

Well, Nintendo said time and time again that they were disappointed with E3 (as a response to all the criticism), and they made up for it with the Fall conference. They could avoid the disappointment, but let's be level headed about this.

Level headed is for the weak peoples. We must get HYPED.

BTW I would think Wii Sports Resort would be out by E3.

If all we got from Nintendo at this E3 were Punch Out, Wii Sports Resort, and Tracy Memory 2, I'd be ecstatic.

Wii Sports Resort and Punch Out will almost definitely be released before E3, so I don't count them as being there.

We also know they aren't going to ignore the [fill in the blank] market either, so I wonder what they will do for them.  Wii Fit 2 with motion plus support seems pretty definite in my mind.  I just hope they don't dedicate more than 40% of the press conference to it.  I'll definitely buy it if they add some sort of routine system to it.

Going off my GDC prediction (which I shamelessly stole from GP) I expect Pikmin 3 (which will only be shown in trailer form at GDC) to be playable.

One thing I wish they'd do but I doubt it will happen is do something to reinvigorate the Virtual Console.  Namely, I'd love to see an announcement that they solved some of the presumed emulation issues, such as the super fx chip and n64 memory expansion.

Hmmm....

If Nintendo wants the PS2 title, then they have to attack it from all fronts. Casual and hardcore. It'll be interesting to see what they have planned.

Both Punch-Out and Wii Sports Resort before E3? E3 happens in July, right? If so, I don't see this happening.

We have yet to see an updated trailer for Punch-Out Wii, much less actual gameplay footage. Same with Wii Sports Resort. This could change at GDC, but I doubt they will be release before June ends.

I think Wii Sports Resort will be out in April or May. They need to have enough lag time with Wii Motion plus so other games can take advantage of it before christmas.

Well, Nintendo only announced its releases till March, leaving April, May and June available for possible releases. E3 happens in July, so a lot  can happen in those three months. But my worry is that Nintendo has yet to talk about those titles, so I doubt that a release would be announced soon.

Didn't they announce Wario Land like 3 months before it was released? It is almost Nintendo's thing now to announce release dates shortly before they are released.

To be fair to my predictions...this is Nintendo we are talking about.  Even if Wii Sports Resort is out they will still have it at E3 in some way.

But if that is the case, then I would suggest that we may only get 2 new game announcements for the end of the year.

Yes, but they released A LOT of info, footage and screens, with non-stop info till release. Wii Sports Resort only received a three game demo at E3, and Punch-Out only had a trailer, nothing since then.

Again, if we expect Nintendo to release them before July they would have to bombard us with every info prior to launch.

I guess it all depends on Wii Motion Plus. If there are other games that require its use coming down the pipeline, I don't think Nintendo would want to keep holding back Wii Sports Resort. If Wii Sports Resorts is the only game to use it and no other games are even close to be ready to use it, then they may be able to hold back on releasing Wii Sports Resort.

I keep forgetting that E3 comes later and later in the year these days.

Nintendo's Q3 financial report shows a first half 2009 Calendar Year release in NA for both Punch Out and Wii Sports Resort, so I think that Pale's right, these games will have just been released by E3. It doesn't mean that Nintendo wouldn't make a big deal of them at their show though.

I'm curious as to what Nintendo's big third-party game(s) will be. The Conduit, HOTD; Overkill, and Madworld may all already be out by E3 2009. It'd be very exciting if it was some big Motion Plus surprise project, maybe Red Steel 2? Or maybe it'll be an RPG line-up? Or a survival horror line-up?
