I don't think you need to buy Punch Out.  It stands on it own.

At first i thought it was some sorta DLC for the game and would possibly expire after some time. Doesn't matter either way cuz i  checked my old email, which i happen to have signed up to My Nintendo with, and I'm not eligible because i never made it to platinum (i think..) status.

BUMP (on the head!)

Finally got the game, finally got some time with it today, spent the last few hours plowing thru the contender mode. Maaan this game is fun! I only tried the motion controls, sans balance board, for a practice round but then went back to playing NES style. Since I'm still playing the original version, I was just too used to this setup to change. Now that I've beat contender mode, I'll try to complete the title defense mode with motion controls.

Am I the only one currently playing this?? Lol

I've actually been good at juggling all my games lately. I thought with PO i'd do a fight per night, but ended up being hooked and plowing through the contender mode. I'll leave title defense bouts to my one match a night schedule, just so I can keep my other games on an even rotation as well... it'll be hard though, this game is addictie!

I would have continued playing this game if I hadn't let my friend (who's on house arrest) borrow it. Any time I come over we usually play RE4 and try to completely beat Missionary Mode (all characters all 5 star ratings). It's been a blast.

He prefers to play RE4 sitting backwards on a chair with his Zapper+ (aka reverse cowgirl) than that standard, boring, missionary mode.

If it weren't for that stupid coupon, i probably wouldn't of gotten the game for another year or so.

This isn't a game i'm in a hurry to finish, but I appreciate having it as a means of getting a mild Wii workout bundled with wacky boss challenges.

If you wear a Rambo or Karate Kid headband, you'll be fine.

Many 1980s Heroes wore Headbands.

This game is awesome. Seriously Nintendo should just buy Next Level Games as a first party developer because their work so far has been fantastic.

The one thing I love so much about the game is that its the perfect audience game. There's a lot of color, commentary and action going on you can't help but stay focused. I bought the game for my birthday. While I was waiting for my sister to finish dinner I started playing the game and blowing through the first circuit. First it was my nephew who joined when I got to King Hippo. Then, when I got to Bear Hugger my father joined and started commenting on the fight and yelling to watch out for the attacks. By the time I got to Soda Popinski my mother, sister, niece and brother in law had all sat down and started to watch me play and enjoy it greatly.

Disco Kid drew laughs because of his flamboyance, Soda Popinski disturbed with the sloshing sound he made after every punch, Aran Ryan made everyone angry so on and so forth.

Yeah, I've been wondering why Nintendo hasn't bought Next Level Games. They've proven that they've got a lot of talent and that they want to work on the Wii.

Not to mention that alongside Retro Studios they have used Nintendo's franchises to the fullest. Punch Out takes the franchise to a whole new level, especially with the gameplay options and characters.

Everybody criticized the game for not having enough new characters. While this is somewhat of a con the old characters have been presented in such an amazing way it is forgiven. Seriously I ask anyone to watch a video of Aran Ryan on Super Punch Out, then watch a video of him in Punch Out Wii and the difference is night and day.

The classic characters pretty much became new again, especially with the addition of their title defense personas.

Once again, Nintendo should buy Next Level Games since their work with existing Nintendo franchises has been phenomenal.

They created Super Mario Stikers and then did the follow up on the Wii.

They're quickly becoming the new Camelot.

I had no idea NLG wasn't 1st party. That's news to me!

It'd be nice to have them be backed 100% by nintendo and develop some more awesome games, but they should be allowed to branch out too, so they don't end up like camelot only doing mario sport sequels.

Oh, and I didn't know before hand that NLG was the studio behind this PO, but when I turned the game on and heard the music I knew it was them; very reminiscent of mario strikers sound.

Iwata Ask: Punch Out!!

Quote
Wada: This is a great opportunity, so I have something I'd like to say. In Punch-Out!!, the game gives you a lot of hints about effective timing of punches. There is a big boxer called Bald Bull in the NES version as well and a light flashes to the right in the audience when he charges. If you punch when it flashes you will land a body blow.

Tanabe: What? Really?

Wada: No one has known about that for about 22 years…

Everyone: (laughter)

Wada: I was wondering when I would have a chance to tell people that.

Iwata: You've been holding that information for 22 years since the release. (laughs)

Wada: Now that I had the chance. (laughs) There are a lot of hidden elements in the NES version.
