Glass Joe challenges:
- win a fight without dodging/blocking/ducking

If it's anything like the first game, this will be the easiest challenge in the game...

Quote
- knock him down three times, but let him win by decision

...and this will be the hardest!  I don't think he even attacked often enough to knock you down in the first round.

Ultimate Party Bear I think the second one could be solved by knocking him out once per round but letting him beat you the rest of the time.Take his hits.

Yeah the way that challenge is worded seems to indicate it doesn't have to occur in the first round (besides wouldn't that be a TKO if he gets knocked down 3 tmes in one round?).

Yes It would be a TKO if you knocked out your foe if  it happened in one round.:)

I mentioned the first round only to point out how rarely Glass Joe even throws punches, i.e. not enough to even knock you down once by the end of the first round.  As I recall, he gets fairly aggressive at the start of the third round, but who knows what he'll really be like in the new game.

Giving you invincibility is taking it too far. The helmet should just make you take half damage or something, effectively creating an "easy" mode, not a "automatic win" mode. That's boring.

Heh who knows EasyCure.
Anyway there is going to be a title defense mode.As one might expect once you beat the game you can go up against the boxers again. They will have different tactics from their previous fight. Its like fighting an all new person.

It sounds like this is basically a hard mode. Maybe the first time around won't be so difficult.

Looks like the first review has been released from the Official Nintendo Magazine UK.  The full review was posted here.

http://highdefgeek.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=8795

According to the review the game sounds like it turned out great.  The normal mode they say is really easy but once you unlock the hard mode it becomes rage inducing old school arcade difficulty.  In other words, it does a good job of appealing to newcomers as well as appealing to the long time fans.

A lot of people will be eating crow once this game is released. It seems that Next Level Games has created a game so solid, so robust and so appealing to both older gamers and casual gamers that there really isn't anything to complain about. And those that do are merely complaining for the sake of it.

I am concerned, however,  that the review says nothing about the supposed balance board support. I think it WAS a rumor that ran amock.

If reviewers weren't even aware that Excitebots has online play, we can't be so sure they aren't overlooking the Balance Board support in this game.

I expected that the "normal" round would be easy and the unlockable mode would be the hard one the series is known for. With Metroid Prime 3's "normal" mode actually being the easy mode, it's a trend with games as of late. The only complaint I can envision about that is that you can't play the "hard' mode right away.

The thing that worry's me though is that some of the reviewers might be too stupid to play the hard mode or try the exhibition mode challenges and as a result will mark the game down for being too short and easy with no replay value, even though the game isn't.  Which as a result could end up misinforming a lot of gamers, who will then complain about the game, even though they haven't even played it.

Just like how I remember a lot of Wario Land Shake reviews said the game only had 20 levels and there was no replay value after beating it.  Which was a complete lie since there was 12 hidden levels to unlock after beating it, not to mention trying to collect all the treasures and trying to complete the stage missions in that game added a huge amount of replay value.
