I saw the video and it was really, really bad. Morgan Webb didn't explain how the game worked, so Jimmy Fallon ended up waggling like an idiot while King Hippo pummeled the living crap out of Mac.  Definitely one of the worst videogame demonstrations yet.

It did look nice. But that doesn't excuse the fact that the presentation was laughably bad.

I wish I had the kind of money to buy a screen that large (although I don't have any room for a TV that big anyways).

- exhibition mode: fight any boxer of your choosing, practice against holographic representations of the fighters you can’t seem to beat
- fights will come with a set of challenges (achievements), and if you accomplish these specific task, you’ll be able to unlock music, voice samples and more

A couple more details.

- completing a circuit changes Little Mac’s outfit (green, to blue, to ect…)
- use all three stars at once for a triple star spinning uppercut
- ring size/venue changes from circuit to circuit
- Little Mac wears a helmet in the training session (details discussed earlier)
- as mentioned before, there will be specific challenges in Exhibition mode

Von Kaiser challenges:
- Win the fight and land EVERY punch thrown
- TKO Von Kaiser in under a minute
- KO Von Kaiser with only 5 punches

Glass Joe challenges:
- knock him down three times, but let him win by decision
- find the one-punch knockout
- win a fight without dodging/blocking/ducking

- camera zooms in as you beat up your opponent
- pressing the minus button between rounds will regain health. This is allowed once per fight, you’ll see a visual confirmation of the button press when Doc Louis eats a chocolate bar
- lose 100 times and earn the training helmet to make you invincible
- you can also tap 1 and 2 to regain health after being knocked down
- depleted heart meter means you can’t punch
- special mode unlocked after you beat the game (details are secret)

I find that training helmet interesting. Sounds like it is a fair compromise between the casual players and the more "hardcore" players.

100 losses though? if i was a casual player in the sense most people here see it as (ie. dumb) i'd never stick with the game to get that many losses. I'd pop in wii fit and jog with a cute puppy instead, ya can't lost at that!

EasyCure you make an interesting point. Say you are playing the game and you are playing the game. You make it to the final boxer and you keep on trying to beat the last guy.You can't seem to beat him/her.So you keep on trying and trying. The drive to win will keep you trying and trying until you beat him/her.There are bound to be lots of losses.

Or maybe it is for people like me that felt like throwing their controller through the TV in Punch-Out and Super Punch-Out after getting massacred by one guy.

This game is sounding better and better.  I ragged on it earlier for having a limited number of competitors, but adding challenges and additional features make the game a little meatier.

Definitely looking forward to this one.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

I just know some fans are going to squeal about the helmet. But really, will you try to lose 100 times in a row? You play to win. Also, the helmet would be kind of insulting if you need it to win so I think it seems fair and balanced.

Or maybe it is for people like me that felt like throwing their controller through the TV in Punch-Out and Super Punch-Out after getting massacred by one guy.

that just sounds like you'd start losing on purpose in order to rack up enough losses to gain the helmet.

Im sure someone dedicated would keep going back for more, but when we talk about "casual" players here, its usually associated for "grandmas" and whatnot. Those are the people i don't see getting 100 losses because if they're stuck on the same fight, they'll give up and eventually forget about the game.

For core players who might not be very good i can see this being a good leg up. They'll be the ones who migh get frustrated, put the game down for a week, but come back to it and who knows.. maybe they'll suffer some more losses and start the cycle over again. Eventually they might rack up enough losses to get the Helmet and have incentive to kepe playing the game.

All the "hardcore" players though won't have to worry about it cuz they're uber 1337 and don't ever lose, so they'll NEVER see the helmet ;)
In all honesty, i'd probably fall into that second category; a core gamer who wouldn't be that good at the game, since i've never owned Punch Out! before.

Well in my experience PUnch-Out has always had a strange addicting quality to it even if you can only get so far, even with more casual gamers. So it is tough to say.

Well I don't really agree with you about the casual point EasyCure.

Anyway the helmet I've heard is optional so you can put it on if you want to.It isn't thrust upon you and can't take it off once you get your 100th loss.
