I sometimes love the Nintendo fanbase...

First, they complain that Punch-out might have botchy motion controls.

Today it was confirmed that the game will have classic NES style control as an option, and now THAT is a problem.

Now we know why Nintendo does whatever the hell they want :p .

Isn't entirely possible that it's different people complaining about the two things?  I was afraid that Punch-Out would have lousy motion controls and I'm GLAD they're offering a traditional method.  Let the fools have their waggle.  If the game can work without it then give me something that's accurate and responsive.  My only complaint would be that I would like Classic Controller support as well since it's more ergonomic than turning the remote on its side.  But that's nitpicking.

Use what works best for the game.  EVERY TIME.  Motion controls are floaty and inaccurate and if you can't make full use of them DON'T.  Find something that works with the nunchuk and remote's button layout and provide a classic/Gamecube controller option.

I am really hoping they add more punches to make the core game more complex. In both of the earlier games you only had four punches and then the super punch. I hope they add at least four more punches including hooks and uppercuts. Since it's digital, having 8 punches makes sense.

Imagine Punch-Out controlled exclusively by Dance Pads or Bongos.

I could actually visualize that since Dance Pads do have an A and B button.

Having a 2-player mode actually makes this a little more enticing for me, though I still don't think I'll be picking this up until it hits the bargain bin (which means cheap used price when it comes to Nintendo-published titles).

The control setup is what I figured it to be.The 2 player mode will help with replayability.

I'm iffy on two player but I'm iffy on this game period.  If they had to break the game to get multiplayer to work that's no good.  But if it's like Metroid Prime 2 where they just tacked something on, and it sucked, but it didn't ruin the single player, then I can live with it.  Obviously it would be best if it's just really good but the idea just doesn't seem very feasible with Punch-Out's gameplay.

WOW. Looks like Next Level has brought the game successfully to 3D while maintaining what made the game so much fun in the first place. The visuals are nothing short of beautiful.

Like I suspected, Punch-Out is going for the same idea as Street Fighter IV: Incorporate elements, characters and ideas from the classic game while completely updating the graphics, sound and even some of the gameplay.

This definitely feels like its paying homage to the classic game while being new enough for everyone. It makes sense since the most beloved entry in the series is the NES title.

I have yet to see a balance board. Is there enough room for a 6'4" individual to duck and dive?

God the style of this game looks really hot. The only weird thing is that mac looks a little stiff as he throws punches...

I like this part of the article:

"Punch-Out!! on Wii offers great new control opportunities, utilising both the Wii Remote and Nunchuk to let you mimic the movements of the left and right hands as you let the leather fly. Meanwhile, the “classic” control system, invites you to use the Wii Remote in a sideways position to simulate the original NES controller and gives the real retro fight feel that Punch-Out!! fans love."

So bottom line, there's no grounds for any kind of bitching since the game can use both motion controls or classic controls.
"OK, first we need someone to complain about something trivial. Golden or S_B should do. Then we get someone to defend the game, like Bill or Mashiro. Finally add some Unclebob or Pro666 randomness and the thread should go to hell right away." -Pap64
