Mafia XXVII: Mad Science. Sign-ups are closed!
« on: September 12, 2008, 10:53:53 AM »
Muh hu ha ha. Velcome to ze vorld of szienze!

Why a mad scientist would talk like dracula I'll never know?

Anyway's the theme of the game is centered around the idea of crazy scientists and kooky inventions with a dash of..... murder. Bum bum buuuuuuuum.

Based off recent headlines, like The Large Hadron Collider and the new tv show Fringe, crazy science is in and I want to cash in on this new trend. And what better way to do than to rip off another idea.

Like the concept of the upcoming movie, Igor, the story will take place around a science competition but instead of an upstart brat trying to compete, this will be about a group of scientists who are willing to kill to win the grand prize. Of course, it's up to the other scientist to stop them and bring back honor to science competitions. Oh, and the grand prize they are competeing for is a Noble Peace Prize. What irony! How do I do it?

So, feel free to sign up and let your eccentric genius flow. Sign-ups run from today on to Saturday Sept. 20th.

My first thought when I saw this thread was 'Weird Science'. How awesome would that be? Except everyone would want to be Chet. GP could be Lisa ;)

Thinking along those lines, I will be Gary Wallace. For God's sake, he made a woman out of a barbie doll. What more do you want?

In as Dr. Wily.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

I'm in as Overkill because I don't want to change my avatar. I've changed my mind and I'm switching to another character John Swartzwelder has written for, Professor John Frink.

Whoa. Blast from the past! Zach is back! I thought you'd left us man.

Just when you thought you were out, mafia pulled you back in.

And to Spak-Spang. It shouldn't be a surprise. In anti-thatguy's (and yes, I will keep calling him that until he wises up and gets rid of the anti) thread, "Am I back?", I mentioned I was thinking about hosting back to back games. I also seem to get a surprising number of compliments for hosting a mafia game which is nice but it always surprises because it often seems there can be a bit of contraversy when I host sometimes.

But since last game went so smoothly and didn't burn me out too much, I figured I'd give it another crack.

Welcome aboard everyone who has signed up so far.

Yeah I missed you. I hate to say this because it I may lose some of the respect points I've been gaining around these boards but I will anyways.

A few mafia games ago, on Spak's crisis on Dual Earth's, I suddenly found myself staring at the list of players and thinking to myself, who are these people? What happened to everyone? Thatguy, Zach, Blackfootsteps, Nuclearspeed and Sir_Stabbalot. All of you had just disappeared. Even semi-regulars like S-U-P-E-R, Pale, oohhboy, MysticGohan and decoyman weren't around.

And I began to feel a bit old. Like a star athlete who looks around the room and realizes the team is rebuilding, has unloaded a lot of star talent and is going with youth and rookies. And as I got voted out, I began to wonder if maybe it was time to retire also. With the old crowd gone, was the game still the same? And then I played a heck of a game in Mario Kart Mafia, proved I'm still a star player and moved on to hosting to show 'em how its done.

Yet again, when hosting, I looked up a lot of the players I knew who had disappeared and sent them invites to get 'em back in the game. And when I looked at your account and saw you hadn't logged in for months, I thought you weren't coming back and sadly, didn't send the invite. Forgive me.

But suddenly, a renaissance has occured on these forums. anti-thatguy's back, animecyberrat is coming back, bad example Wandering has left forever and know you're back. I wonder if we'll see the return of Infernal Monkey who has been lying low for some time. I'd even take Couchmonkey who has also disappeared through the mists of the forums. Still, one gets the feelings things will only go up from here.

And as I got voted out, words words words

To quote Zapp, you give me too little credit :)

Someone needs to drive a DeLorean through this game and do some Back-to-the-Future-inspired Mafia-ness. I'm afraid it won't be me (long story, only time for trolling these days), but I'll try and keep an eye on the action.
