The most ironic part is that both Dallas and Philly upgraded their secondary in the offseason (Adam Jones, Asante Samuel, etc.). They got lit up.

Atlanta KILLED them. You really have to watch the KC offense in action to realize how horrible they are. They actually made some noise at the end of the first/start of the second half, but by then they were already down by 24 points. And that 4th-and-goal stand by Atlanta made them look like little beeyotches.

I think this season is the Herm Edwards farewell tour.

Speaking of teams getting killed, how about the Patriots being victimised by Miami in Foxboro? In yardage they were outgained by a ratio bigger than 2:1, and to rub salt in the wounds they let big-mouthed Joey Porter get three sacks on them.

Obviously the absence of Brady and Maroney on offense hurts the Pats, but it's hard to believe that was a Belichick coached defense out there getting gashed by the Miami frickin Dolphins. If you're a Pats fan, you must be extremely disappointed in such a total collapse of the team at home against a division rival. Don't discount the chance of Belichick setting things right, but they are in more trouble than I had thought without Brady to paper-over their defensive deficiencies.

I totally agree. That defense looked awful. To anybody that had Ronnie Brown in their fantasy league, you hit the jackpot this week.

Anyone else happy that Kiffin is finally axed? I was so sick of the endless speculation and watching Kiffin openly discuss the issue w/ reporters like a little baby. The man should have told them to "piss off" and he probably could have saved his job, as well as his career (or at the very least, his severance).

I don't even know what opinion to have of the Raiders any more. That organization is such a total mess. Al Davis is a nutjob. They've had five coaches in seven years, I believe. That's terrible.

I think Atlanta is going to upset Green Bay this week. Turner is going to run all over them.

I think so as well, I'm just not convinced Rodgers will be able to play injured as well as that one guy who used to play their last year. So yeah, I picked Atlanta to win in my Pro Picks this week.

That Matt Ryan end zone pickoff had me cursing like a mofo, though. However, unlike past years, the Falcons offense can now do novel things like running, passing, and scoring.

Oh yeah, thank you Matt Ryan and thank you Turner! Now my Bears are back in first place, and slowly helping to cure the Cubs playoff hangover!

A great day all around in the NFL for my teams. I actually went to the Broncos v Bucaneers game today, and it was great to see the Broncos D finally pull in a W for the time. On top of that, Miami some how managed to hold San Diego to 10 points for the win!

Yeah, what got into Denver? I guess they got tired of allowing 35 points a game.

As for San Diego, you know the story. They'll go 9-2 the rest of the way, finish 11-5 and make the AFC wild card, then lose in the second round. And then everybody will wonder what went wrong, and lament the fact that San Diego has so much talent but just can't seem to put it together. Except this time I think the twist will be that they'll fire Norv Turner and put a real coach in charge (i.e. Bill Cowher).

Yeah, they shouldn't have left that one in the hands of their kicker, Jon Lovitz. On top of that, the pass interference to Berrian on 3rd down was absolutely retarded. Those two CB's should be heavily chastised this week at practice. I've watched Berrian on the Bears for a few years, and odds are, he's going to miss that ball, especially after making his one catch to score a TD. They just had to get close and yell "Don't miss it" and the Saints would have avoided the last second FG.

The Saints really need to grab a defense. They seem to allow 30+ points in every game. They're lucky they have a stacked offense or they'd be getting crushed. Their starting cornerback, Tracy Porter, sustained a season-ending injury on that Berrian touchdown too:

Saints and Chargers = biggest disappointments so far (although I can't say I'm surprised by the Chargers any more).
