We need a friend code topic for this game.  EasyCure, I'm adding you... mine is 3051 0764 2053 (band name: Labrynth of Zeux).  (yes, I know that's not how you spell labyrinth.  It makes it more "metal")

Oh, and here a couple of other differences in the Wii version: on Wii, the slider notes are not connected by a purple line (they're just translucent and sort of purpleish), and apparently it's missing the option to "create your own gig" in career mode (so if you want to play songs other than the predefined gigs in career mode, you have to do it one at a time.  But you can still make a setlist of up to 6 songs in quickplay).

The slider is hard to use when only specified by slightly translucent gems. I do believe that the character creator was severely stripped of features in the Wii version as well.

I've been doing pretty well with the slider. I really like being able to use that touchy thing as the strummer.

The slider makes it almost too easy to play the parts that use it. It doesn't even matter if you hit the extra notes in between where you should be hitting. The drums are awesome though, the only thing that sucks about them is the kick pedal. It slides all over the place, and it has too little range of motion. Oh well, I velcro it to a small door mat and stomp away and get it most of the time.

I thought the biggest complaint about the GH drum set is that the stand not very stable. Not counting the defective hardware issues.

No way dude, the stand istself is pretty rock-solid. It stays completely in place, whereas the Rock Band (and RB2) set will slide all over your floor.

Morari, what do you think is missing from the Wii versions character creator?

From watching a few videos that demonstrate the character editor (presumably on other consoles), it doesn't seem as though Wii owners can do much outside of adjusting the width of the head and eye color. Their are nose adjustments of course, but it seems as if almost everyone's general face comes out the same.

Also, it is a tad depressing that the hair and clothing options are so unevenly split between genders. I also fail to see the reason why male characters have no makeup option... this is supposed to be a rock star, after all.

i noticed that about the makeup and was pretty dissapointed. The first character i made wasn't an original, i made Jerry Only of the Misfits because they had the Devilock hairstyle they pretty much invented. I wanted some damn black makeup around the eyes, thats all, but they dont have the option for male characters.

I was hoping to make Robert Smith of the Cure for similar reasons (they had his freaking hairstyle, i LOLed when i saw it titled "the Remedy"!!) but even if i do make him, i can't give him lipstick and its just not him without the lipstick :(

The Devilock hairstyle is pretty humorous. I really couldn't stand having Jerry in my game though. Now Danzig, that's another story! :P

i thought of making a misfits-era Danzig but his devilock was never as finely styled as Jerry or Doyle for that matter. ;)

To make a Glenn Danzig;

1 tiny man + big muscles + black belt in karate + devilock = Danzig.

simple formula.  if you replace devilock with -devilock, you get a mullet.  so be careful.

So am I the only person in the entire world who can't find this?  Futureshop and Best Buy's websites don't say that the local stores are out of inventory but that they DON'T CARRY THE PRODUCT AT ALL!  Meanwhile every store I've visited except Best Buy, Futureshop and EB has never gotten the full bundles with the drums even though they were supposed to.  They have a billion copies of just the game or the game plus a guitar though.  Wal-Mart is buried in exclusive bundles that come with two guitars and are probably wondering why no one is buying them.  Did Activision f*ck over Canada?  These stores have the damn thing in their flyer and they have to embarrasingly apoligize to everyone who inquires about it for never having it in the first place.  What's the point of knocking 10 bucks off the price for the first week when no one can even buy the damn thing?

Though a silver lining in all this is it looks like I'll be able to find out about compatibility between this and Rock Band 2 before making my purchase.

My guess is that Activision's logistics for these types of things suck in Canada and these things probably take a lot more resources since you aren't just pressing a disc for these types of things, I don't know how far away you are from the US boarder but maybe it maybe a good idea to take a trip to America to pick up the game if you want it that bad. But I don't know if it's worth your while since 1 CAD = .86 USD.

I know in the US there was the same kind of issue that you are currently having Ian but then again if you really want the GHWT instruments you might be better off getting a later batch since people are having issues with guitars and drums across all the platforms just to avoid the frustration of faulty instruments.

That's another silver lining.  I just want to play the game now, you know.  I had people over on Halloween and I was hoping we could play this.  My birthday is in a month and, again, I'll have people over and want to be able to play this.

You should go to Activision's site and try to order the midi-USB cable for the drums, so you can already fix you drums if they're not sensitive enough when you receive them.

i'll be doing this actually, i tested it a lil more and i do have a slight sensitivity issue with my 'snare' and 'hi-hat' pads (red and yellow) but its not game breaking. I only noticed it when i had a few mins to check out the music creator and noticed every other pad registers soft taps fine. Again its not game breaking, i've been getting better at the drums on Medium, enough to pass songs in the 80+%'s. The only area it'd be a factor would be the song creator since i know once i do compose something, i'll be picky enough to have those soft notes in there.

Oh and LOL at Ians luck. Sorry dude!

I saw that, but Activision has a real fix available, though I guess that's decent for a quick (and temporary) fix. I'm borrowing my friend's drums, and I'd say every pad/cymbal besides blue is not sensitive enough. Though I can still get a 289 note streak on the crash-roll on Unforgiven 3 most every time, I'm hitting it a lot hard then I should have to be. Another plus for GHWT's drums over RB2's is GHWT actually gives you more points if you hit the pads harder when you're supposed to, it definitely adds a little more realism to the game.

So far, in all of Internet-land, I've been able to find one (!) comment from someone on a message board that says, "I tried the Rock Band 1 (Wii) drums on World Tour, and they don't work, aren't recognized."

Boo. I even emailed NWR via the mailbag. Of course, who knows when that'll be answered.

But in slightly better news, I found a story at GoNintendo stating that GHWT drums would be compatible with RB2! However, the link in the article cited didn't say that, so I refuse to believe it until officially confirmed.

Of course, if Harmonix releases it (RB2) 2 months late on Wii and compatibility DOESN'T happen... well, I don't know what to say. EPIC DISAPPOINTMENT will result.

I read on GoNintendo...which stole the story from elsewhere that Activision is already deleting user created songs that might get them in trouble.

Mario and Zelda themes are being deleted as well as other Nintendo franchise games.  I must say I am saddened by this activity, because I wanted to download some great user created video game tunes.

I guess that means, I will have to be watching the GH Tunes carefully when the songs are reloaded again by different users and under different names...
