People have been playing WoW for years, and tons of other games. I think of Guitar Hero and RockBand as non-games anyway, it's more like karaoke that you need to be pretty good at.

One day everyone who plays Guitar Hero World Tour and Rock Band Whatever Number We're On Now will stop and think and realize that they've been playing the same game for four effing years.

This is my prediction.

One day everyone who plays a video game of any era will stop and think and realize that they've been wasting they're time for X effing years.

But you know what? they'll still be glad they did because they were entertained by playing all that time.

If this game isnt what you're into, how about you dont post?

Well for the people who were wanting to make covers of songs in World Tour don't bother.

""We'll be actively monitoring the site," Neversoft project director Brian Bright explained to 1up. "We can't condone people putting up covers of music. It's really there for original content."

"If there's a licensed song and someone holds the copyright to it, we'll take it down regardless of whether or not someone complains," Activison PR manager Aaron Grant elaborated. "

Figures, but honestly they cant police everything right?

Sure they'll go after something obvious like if someone uploads a song to GH Tunes called "Hot For Teacher" or whatever (i know that songs already in the game, i was just too lazy to think of another obvious song title)

I'm sure i can get away with some obscure songs by obscure artist

Edit: maybe i just didnt understand the article correctly (since i lack reading comprehension appearantly;)) but they're just talking about uploading it GH Tunes correct? Well does a track need to be uploaded to their servers for friends to share or is there a way to directly swap tracks?

Even if thats the case, theres no stopping me from re-creating tracks for me to play with friends on my own console, so no big deal here really. It'll only hurt the non-creative or people too intimidated/confused by the track creator that wanted an easy way to find songs they know.

Besides more original stuff would make the service better. Imagine loging on to see that the top rated tunes are all covers, that'd be lame.

Plus, I doubt they'll delete custom songs off your own console, so presumably you can still make those for your own fun.

(and then distribute them online via pc using the SD card, like with brawl stages? we'll see)

Elvis eh?

Not a fan really. I'd much rather have the Dead Kennedys "cover" of "Viva Las Vegas" no there than any original Elvis song ;)

I'd rather have the originals than covers, myself.

I  want more vintage acts  (Roy Orbinson, Chuck Berry, Bo diddly, Buddy Holly, ect.)

i would too but notice i put it in quotes. They're version of it is more of a satire on the song, the attitude behind it and Elvis himself.

I wouldnt mind some classic acts like you mentioned, but hey! We got La Bamba in there, thats a start right?

Pricing isnt a big deal to me, i've been putting $20 a week towards my reserve of the full band kit for a few weeks now. I think after work today i'll do another $20 and i'll of already put down $85 towards the game.

As for the DLC, i'm sure the DLC will be there for wii as well but if somehow its not, its no biggy for me, i don't see myself buying new songs until i'm burnt out on the ones on the disc already.

I think I'm going to pass on this game for a while in favor of Shining Force II.  ;D

oddly enough all sources I have seen just mentioned this DLC for the 360 & PSN.  odd.

After all this talk from Neversoft about DLC I'm hoping this is just a misunderstanding.  If DLC isn't in the Wii version I'm very divided on what to do.  On one hand I already own a Wii and own a GH3 guitar I can use as a bass.  On the other hand I have considered getting one of the other consoles as the Wii really isn't cutting it for me by itself.  The plan was even if I get one of the other consoles I would still get GH: World Tour on the Wii because I already have a guitar for it and because it looks to be the best version.  If DLC is axed then it's not the best version anymore.  I do plan on using DLC and not having it would really f*ck everything up.  But then getting GH3 for the Wii was a pretty lame investment if I get a different version.

They said they would include it and have emphasized it.  We know the Wii can handle it.  So I guess I'll just assume everything's cool until I hear otherwise.

The pricing is too high for a Christmas gift so I'll have to buy it myself.

Actually, I think it's 1 guitar, 1 drumset, 1 mic only - no bass.

Nope, you're mistaken with something that's logical.

EDIT:  The UK's getting a promo for GH where you get a free bass if you preorder the band kit.  Maybe that's what you're thinking of?

Nope. I was thinking from the videos that I've seen from Rock Band (2) where at the top you have the lyrics, on the left is for guitar, middle is for drums, and right is for bass, which I assume is the same for GHWT, so I thought that if four instruments are playable then the game would ship with four instruments.

The layout of the tracks depends on who's playing what. Lyrics are always on top, but then the next lowest player number will be on the left, then the middle, then the right. Say player 1 is guitar, then lyrics will be on top, and guitar will be on the left.

It is virtually confirmed from what I understand, even Vicarious has described a bit about how they got DLC to work and how seamless it is.
