Nintendo Ads are so...
« on: September 01, 2008, 03:09:27 PM »
Good.  I don't know if it is because I pay less attention to everything nowadays (tv and videogames), but it seems to me that Nintendo commercials got much better.  Back in the GCN days, I was close hurting myself and others because it seemed like Nintendo would essentially sabatoge the success of their first and second party games by the dumbest ad campaigns.
I had the tv on and saw the one for Mario Super sluggers and it was solid.  I chuckled.  With the wii it is given but there is a spike in Nintendo specific commercials too. Has anybody else noticed the difference?  Did Nintendo hire people with working brains or did they just increase the advertising budget? I think it is nice that even the proudest of companies learns.

The Nintendo ads of old, Super NES to Early GC era will forever be the best. One of my favorites will forever be the Animal Crossing commercials.

Worth mentioning is the SSB64 commercial.  It features my favorite slogan, Get N or get out

Funny to think that the company credited with doing so much good in roping in more girls to gaming once aired this advert.

I do think they're advert are much better than they used to be. This can't be hurting the Wii's success.

I agree that the Animal Crossing commercials were the best. I absolutely loved those! It does seem that Nintendo has massivly increased their advertising budget but Wii commercials have been hit and miss for me. The "Wii would like to play" ads were good but I don't know what they were thinking with the Mario Kart ads. Those were terrible... I have yet to see the Mario Sluggers commercial. I'll have to look it up.

EASYCURE: I remember thinking(don't ask me why) this was a blond haired, blue eyed, chiseled athlete. Like he looked like Seigfried before he became Nightmare.

Agreed, it was bloody amazing. I remember downloading it to my computer and watching it over and over every night. Made the wait for Metroid Prime quite memorable.

HAHAHAHA, that's hilarious. Never seen that.

I LOVE this ad though http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5Mf2mp6fms probably my favourite non-funny game advert.

The new Wii and DS ads just strike me as very smart more than anything.

Does Nintendo still adverstise during wrestling?  It seems since I stopped watching that I rarely see Nintendo ads anymore.

The problem in the Gamecube always seemed to be that the ads required the viewer to have some knowledge of the product to even understand the ad.  But if I already know all about the game then I don't need to see an ad.  I know enough to decide on my own whether to buy it or not.  They never would explain why the game was so cool and why I should buy it.

With Super Mario Sunshine probably saying "hey look it's the long awaited follow up to Super Mario 64" would have done the trick.
