You have a good point, what does differntiate survival horror from other genres? The whole survival horror genre (like many genres this generation) is having trouble evolving. That's where I give Alone in the dark credit. It's at least trying to add new things and evolve the genre rather than morph it into the action shooter genre.

Survival Horror has one key aspect, survival. It is a genre built on providing you with limited resources while horrific things are going on around you. Now it can definitely evolve but games like Condemned are quite focused on the action side of things, not much survival. Haven't played Alone in the Dark yet though so I cannot comment on that. Even the RE series is stepping away from its roots, which is too bad in many ways (And I don't mean sloppy controls). I am excited to see what they do with the next Silent Hill, because that series could evolve the genre without stepping too much into the action side of things.

LOL. I remember when I saw that for download off Nintendo channel I laughed and imminently downloaded it out of morbid curiosity. That and Lords of thunder are two ongoing jokes that I never grow tired of. When the review is finally posted it will be a MEGATON EVENT.

Hahaha.  You know, I've probably given that game more inadvertent PR by NOT completing its review on time.  BTW the review is currently in Beta.

I would liken hosting to being a basketball coach and center at the same time.  You're part of the team and have to make shots, but you also have to keep control and look at what's happening on a meta level in real time.  It takes a lot of concentration and pre-planning.

Isn't Dead Rising a survival horror type of game?

I haven't played it, but I thought it was more Dynasty Warriors style brawler.

Yeah Dead Rising is pretty much a brawler (great game though!).

Damn, I should have done the same thing as DAaaMan64 when I noticed that "Chad Sexington" joined a couple days back. And yes, I do find this more than a little unsettling...

I think we've found a way to drive up community member count; have Greg whisper sweet nothings into the microphone on the next podcast.

Greg is a human being and should not be made a sexual object to bring in listeners. Shame on ShyGuy!

Just so everybody knows, we're doing something different for the next few weeks because of E3.  There should be something soon this week, but next week our plans are pretty different.

Didn't we already get enough different with Episode 103?

This will be a rather different kind of....."different" from 103's unique brand.

Oh I forget to mention, I completely agree w/ the assessments mentioned on the show related to slow Boom Blox sales.  I was recently able to play the game at a buddies house, and though the core gameplay was great, it just wasn't 50 dollars great.

I blame the flying monkeys in EA Marketing Department for this one.

I paid $50 of my own money for Boom Blox and think it's totally worth it.

Boom BLox is an excellent value in my opinion, the game has more depth and more modes than most games out there. The only flaw that keeps it from being truly great is the lack of an online structure to trade user created levels. There are few games with such in depth and flexible level creation tools, and that is only one small part of a diverse game.

Having put some more time in with the 1 player stuff and gotten a chance to try some multiplayer, I certainly don't feel like I've been shortchanged having spent the equivalent of $58 to buy Boom Blox. Multiplayer has been an absolute riot so far, and I've just scratched the surface with that. I can understand how this may not be everyone's cup of tea, and it's not what I'd describe as a steal by any means, but the value's there if you think you like the sound of what the game is all about.
