It's too bad World Tour is going to have around 8 songs Rock Band 2 already has.

GHWT has promised DLC for wii, won me over there.

Plus, it has Purple Haze and much more variety than Rock Band 2.  Also, Slacker's Revenge sucks. I hate you Axl Rose.

DLC has won me over, too.  Now I have to figure out what I need to do with my Rock Band drumset. :(

After getting RB2 I can't wait for GHWT cause RB2 is pretty bad, I liked GH: Aerosmith better.

You're fucking crazy. Also, are you sure the RB1 drums don't work with World Tour? Even if they did, you'd lose a pad, since GH:WT has 5 pads and a kick.

On the 360 and PS3 version the drums work.  not the wii, though.  What they do is shrink the note highway down to four on world tour.

Will it work the other way around? Like, will the GH:WT drums work w/ Rockband 2? (Wii specifically)

I'm not sure, it'd be a dumb decision for the for them to short change wii owners with lack of compatibility. I'll guess we'll just have to have wait for the releases.

Harmonix really needs to get with it in regards to the Wii. Not only was their port of the first Rock Band ridiculously bad, but the lack of compatibility with Guitar Hero's pre-existing and better designed peripherals did all but guarantee no one would purchase it. Had I been able to use my Guitar Hero controller with the game, I could have looked past the lack of pretty much every feature and just bought the disc itself to enjoy as a guitar-only experience.

Datel released (or is releasing) some device that lets you use the RockBand guitar on Guitar Hero, and the Guitar Hero guitar on RockBand, it's for PS3 and Wii only, and it even lets you use your instruments on both consoles as well. You could play PS3 RockBand with a Wii Guitar Hero guitar. Having said that, PS3 sucks, and so does RockBand on Wii (in comparison to the others, as a game on it's own, however, it's great).

Harmonix Confirms ‘Rock Band 2′ Wii Downloadable Songs, Online Multiplayer

I know they already said it was going to be "more competitive," but I think this is the first time they've specifically confirmed those features.  No details about how the DLC storage will work.

Until I know I can use the GHWT instruments I'm still not interested.

This is good news for me.  I was skipping both games this time around because the two companies can't get their **** together.  I'll keep my eyes open for this.  Let us know if you hear anything more (such as price point and if it works).  ;)
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

thats awesome news but i dont know if i'll ever really give in and buy rock band (disc only) for my wii just to play a couple more songs, thats what DLC is for.

With that said, if activision sucks bringing more songs to GH:WT, then i might just have to get Rock Band (disc only, still) since i hear they're DLC is good. Oh and if RB really is "full featured" on wii as they claim...

For the record, I got RB2 last week for 360 and I think it's great.  It's basically Rock Band v1.5, but that's fine with me, since Rock Band had more elements than Guitar Hero III to begin with.  They didn't have as much stuff to upgrade.

Pretty funny actually, the song I was least looking forward to playing was "Go Your Own Way" by Fleetwood Mac.  It turned out that that song RULES on the drums.  It's a little difficult at first, but it's a fairly long song and by the end you're pretty well-adjusted to the combos they throw at you.  And the combos are FUN.

I'm surprised nobody brought up the AC/DC track pack for Rock Band 2 yet.

http://kotaku.com/5056832/rock-bands-acdc-live-track-pack-+-the-details

The long and short of it is that it's releasing on the 2nd of November for the 360, PS3, and PS2.  It releases on the 16th of November for the Wii.  It will only be sold at Wal-Mart and will carry a retail price of $39.99 for all systems except the PS2 which will be $29.99.  The PS3 and 360 versions will include a code that lets one transfer the music onto your harddrive one time only.  That will help avoid any disc swapping.  All the songs will be masters from live performances.  Here's the 18 song track list:

"Thunderstruck"
"Shoot to Thrill"
"Back in Black"
"Hell Ain't a Bad Place to Be"
"Heatseeker"
"Fire Your Guns"
"Jailbreak"
"The Jack"
"Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap"
"Moneytalks"
"Hells Bells"
"High Voltage"
"Whole Lotta Rosie"
"You Shook Me All Night Long"
"T.N.T."
"Let There Be Rockâ€
"Highway To Hellâ€
"For Those About to Rock (We Salute You)â€

I'm a huge AC/DC whore so my opinion is going to be understandably skewed, but almost all of those songs minus three or so, are the absolute best songs they did.  Furthermore, 18 songs for $40 works out to be a bit over $2 a song, which is the standard for DLC.  All in all, even if I hadn't had RB2 already, this would have been the straw that broke the camels back, so to speak.  Hopefully, the Wii RB2 owners will get some way to transfer music to SD cards sometime next year.

Brian Johnson singing Bon Scott era songs isn't really my cup of tea.

I'd much rather have a Highway to Hell/Black in Black double album download or something like that.

So apparently the Wii version of RB2 is just as good (aside from a couple tiny details) as the 360/PS3 versions, and will have available all of the DLC from RB1 and RB2 as well. It won't have the direct-from-SD loading yet, but there will probably be a patch very soon. You can also preview tracks  and save directly to the SD card, you just need to copy to the Wii's internal memory first, at least until a patch is released.
