I think the 360 version will have a limited edition drum set that will be an actual electronic drumset. i wonder how much that'll cost...

I think the limited edition drum set with some extra pads for cymbals will be made for every system. The price was 300 dollars if I remember correctly.

i must of read the article wrong, i thought it was part of soem exclusivity deal. If it is coming to all systems i'd actually consider it, because an elec. drum kit takes up less space than a real drum kit and i've always wanted to own one but don't have enough apartment space.

It actually comes with a real electric drum kit?  Seriously?  F*ck I'd buy that for $300 for the Xbox 360 even though I don't own the system just for the kit.

I have to re-read the article i saw it in. From my understanding its a drum kit that comes with extra cymbals/pads and can work with the Rock Band (2) game, but might need a (assumingly sold seperate???) peripheral to convert it to a standalone elec-drum kit.

So I finally got 100% on drums on expert (Troublemaker from Weezer, it's fucking easy)...10 acheivement points. It was a 940 note streak for God's sake. 10 fucking points. BTW...this should be the official "real*" Rock Band thread too.

*real = for systems that are not a Wii.

I was considering getting Rock Band for a long, long time, but GHWT just completely blew away my expectations. Hell, it's got effing "Beat It" on the track list, how cool is that?

Here's something I've been wondering... do you think they'll offer the back catalog of DLC for Wii owners?

I would think so, it seems like a relatively small amount of work that could make them a lot of money. If I don't end up getting a 360 like I'm currently planning I'd buy this for the Wii if it had the DLC back catalog, but I'd wait and get it when I do get a 360 if it doesn't.

I don't see why the wouldn't include the backlog. If it's not available at launch, then it should be up before long.

The game will still launch as a timed Xbox exclusive, but only as a game disc with instruments available seperately. The cheaper bundle will not turn up until mid October, coinciding with the Playstation 3, PS2 and Wii version launch.

The Special Edition bundle will sell for $199, whereas eager Xbox gamers will have to cough up and extra $50 for the privilige of that 'exclusive'.

You know, maybe this isn't a deliberate attempt to gouge money from a segment of the Rock Band fanbase. Maybe Harmonix are just trying to show Xbox gamers what it feels like to buy a more expensive Import version of a game? Bah, either way.

The Wii version's not coming until mid-November, if memory serves.

The drum kit you guys are talking about is the Ion Drum Rocker kit.  It's not to be confused with the pack-in Rock Band 2 drums, it's something totally different and optional.  They're a real electronic drum kit that can be used as real drums when combined with a drum brain.  So basically you buy this package:

Ion Drum Rocker Drum Kit ($300)
http://www.amazon.com/ION-Drum-Rocker-Premium-Xbox-360/dp/B001E2OW1Q/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1221346256&sr=8-1

Alesis DM5 Drum Brain (hooks up to your PC) ($350)
http://www.amazon.com/Alesis-DM5-18-bit-Drum-Module/dp/B000C1RRE4/ref=wl_it_dp?ie=UTF8&coliid=I2K6WO6UI7THOM&colid=3GZHHSD9VROPV

For $650 you have a drum set that can be used as real drums and Rock Band drums.  Cool, but very expensive.

but still cheaper than a normal elec. drum kit. Thanks for the pricing on the drum brain, cuz i was considering buying this if could get a 'real' set out of the deal, but its still pretty expensive. I'd rather dish out that $600+ on a traditional set, or if i really wanted to go the electronic route (probably for limited space purposes) i'd rather just dish out out the $1000+

For the record, as far as the Rock Band vs. Guitar Hero argument, I prefer Guitar Hero.  There are very few songs on Rock Band I feel compelled to play, and nothing in that track pack looked interesting to my tastes.

I'm the exact opposite, the Rock Band games have a lot more songs that I'm interested in than the Guitar Heroes.

GHWT has promised DLC for wii, won me over there.

Plus, it has Purple Haze and much more variety than Rock Band 2.  Also, Slacker's Revenge sucks. I hate you Axl Rose.

I don't see how it has much more variety. The variety is MUCH better then Guitar Hero 3, which was pretty one side (understandably so, but I didn't care for it).

I hope Activision handles DLC a lot better then they have so far.
