According to Arstechnica, Capcom told them this is a Wiiware exclusive.

Which means they'll announce ports to every other platform imaginable before it even hits the Wii.

Ahahaha!

Good luck finding a MM9 ROM online, then.

It's interesting that we have this game coming out and we also have Wario Land Shake coming out, so we can really compare this no-frills retro game to that amped-up retro-style game. I think there's a place for both types.

Strell:  I don't know why you are going so dramatic.  So we didn't get an exclusive...BIG DEAL.  I wonder what system this game will sell on the most?  Probably Wii, but Capcom has every right to decide they want to go multi-platform with a game or not.  And Nintendo should not be worried about throwing money around getting exclusive games and such.  This is a different market where people sometimes own 2 or 3 game systems, and most 3rd party games go multi-platform sooner or later, so it isn't a big deal to pursue exclusive games anymore...and besides that Nintendo's games themselves are the biggest trump card Nintendo has for exclusive games.

This dramatic rant, just seems like you are frustrated with the industry in general.  Upset with "Core" gamers and developer opinion towards Nintendo and the Wii.  Upset with Nintendo's direction with the Wii in general.  Frustrated that gamers would turn on a game because it becomes available for them and now it is cool.

But all of that is natural human behaviors and I say don't worry about it.  Gaming is hobby, and a hobby that is filled with millions of egos trying to be cool, and make themselves more important than they are...so I just don't worry about it, and play the games I like whether the gaming community tells me I should like them or not.

It's interesting that we have this game coming out and we also have Wario Land Shake coming out, so we can really compare this no-frills retro game to that amped-up retro-style game. I think there's a place for both types.

I agree with this.  It isn't just about high resolution graphics...it is actually about ART STYLE.  And believe it or not the 8BIT MEGA MAN series had one of the best Art Styles in gaming history.  Even with the limitations of today's technology it still holds up.  And when Capcom has taken their artists and modernized Mega Man they have done so with mixed mostly poor results compared to the original franchise.

This doesn't mean every franchise should go Retro...but there are some that could do so and look and feel great.

I have mixed feelings on Mario going Retro.  I would love another NES style Mario...I would prefer it more than a 2D polygon platformer ala New Super Mario Bros.  However, if they could inject Mario with as much personality and love as Wario World Shake is getting then I would want that.

its not like this is a remake of an older game, its a brand new game in a retro style.

Yes, but I wouldn't buy a new NES-style Mario game either. Or Zelda. Or anything, really. That era has come and gone. It's time to move on and do new things.

Wow.  You know there are certain games that don't need to go retro, but some really would be great to go retro.

I would have loved for New Super Mario Bros, to actually be a Retro game...with brand new levels.  Or a New Super Mario Bros 3 Retro game.

Mega Man's Art Style on the 8Bit still looks good and feels good today.  So Mega Man 9 looks great and looks clean.  I think that is the difference...it is about Art not just about going Retro for Retro's sake and some franchises would do well to go back to its roots.

I know if there was a River City Ransom sequel I wouldn't want it to have modern 3D graphics...I would want complete Retro Graphics.

I agree with Spak. Just because you think "that era has come and gone" and that its time to move on to new things doesnt mean that new things cant be done with that retro style.

When MM9 was first announced i thought it was going to be retro in style only but would add new things to it, then the interviews came out saying they want to make it as good as MM2 by basically mimicing it..that killed my dream, but doesnt mean i wont by the game. If they weren't holding themselves back by sticking to MM2 standards they could make an (even more) awesome game that just happens to have 8-bit graphics but did things that wouldnt be possible on the NES.

look at Four Swords Adventure on GCN. That looked like the SNES title but did things they couldnt of pulled off then. Was the retro style bad in that situation? No.

I know Sony and MS require a game to support HD (1080p and 720p, respectively), I bet the only reason they aren't rejecting this is because it's a big name sequel...

Just because they are limiting play mechanics to just Mega Man 2...doesn't mean nothing new in level design, weapon design or what not won't be added.

In fact, it probably means more likely than not new ideas will be used.  Look already at the trailer with magnet rotating around platforming that is new.

Oh i wasn't stating they wouldnt do anything new in terms of things like that, i meant more like having a more fast paced MMX(1) style action with tons more enemies on screen and smarter enemy AI. From what little has been shown it looks like its Mega Man: The Lost Levels (which in no way is a bad thing, i assure you)

It's only the "box art" because the game isn't coming out in a box.  If this were a retail release I guarantee Capcom wouldn't have the balls to go with it.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Since MM9 is also coming to 360 and PS3, those versions will probably have high-rez graffix to reflect the boxart, HUH?

Yeah you are right KDR. Since we are on the topic of boxart Which was the worst boxart out of all of Megaman's games? I am sure that the North American Megaman and European Megaman 2 are gonna get mentioned alot.On the other side of the coin which was the best? This can include the Megaman 9 boxart.

I think the first MM boxart is horrendous. The best would have to be MM3 I love that boxart, it looks intense and actually makes Mega Man look like mega man!
