VideoGamerX--You just touched upon something that really has me niffed right now. Left and right you have companies threatening to drop Nintendo, but you almost hear none of this about the X-box, which is not doing any better than GC. Both consoles are getting their heads handed to them by the PS2. If these companies were really interested in the money, they shouldn't even be thinking the X-box, let alone the Cube.
There is alot more going on here with some of the claims being made. I think much of it has to do with the Nintendo's direction as a console maker. They are on a completely different path then Sony and Microsoft in terms of how they want to put together their consoles. I think they are also being hurt by the perception of being "kiddie" and not seeming to be receptive to 3rd parties. I won't deny that the Cube was made first and foremost to support the 1st and 2nd party Nintendo games. It has worked for them as a software developer, but as a console maker I wonder if they have bred some kind of contempt in 3rd parties, despite good intentions. I think this might be why I keep seeing Nintendo this and Nintendo that while the X-box seems to be relatively unharmed inspite of also having piss poor sales.
It just really annoys me right now, and I would rather have 3rd parties just come out and say that they just don't like Nintendo's direction, rather than hide behind sales arguments. Frankly, if you are looking at things from a purely business angle, the Cube and X-box shouldn't even be an option to you. Don't say crap about the GC without looking at the lackluster performance of the X-box with equal scrutiny.
