Wii fall schedule OVERLOAD. Time to trim the list :(
« on: September 24, 2007, 03:34:13 PM »
Okay, so I had $700 of unexpected car expenses this weekend and I think I may need to trim my holiday Wii buy list down a bit. Technically I could still afford to get every Wii title I want, but I'm trying to exercise some FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY here. The titles that get cut will most likely be 2008 purchases. Does this make me a bad Nintendo fan?

My previous list:
Zack and Wiki
Super Mario Galaxy
Medal of Honor Heroes 2
RE: Umbrella Chronicles
Super Smash Bros Brawl
Godzilla Unleashed
Brothers in Arms: Double Time (Maybe)
Bully (Maybe)
NinjaBread Man (Maybe)
Harvey Birdman (Maybe)
Soul Calibur Legends (Maybe)

This isn't counting DS titles. I figure I should trim it down to four. My current list is
Medal of Honor Heroes 2
RE: Umbrella Chronicles
Super Smash Bros Brawl
and I'm torn between Zack and Wiki and Galaxy. TORN.

My reasonings for the titles are thus: MOH:H2 is an online game and it's always a good idea to get in on the ground floors with those titles so you can play with your friends and keep up skill wise. Same Reasoning for SSB:B. I have a friend who wants to play RE:UC coop when it comes out, so I may have to get a zapper as well. Now, Sophie's choice is Z&WFBT  and SMG. I want to support a new IP by Capcom, but on the other hand, Mario. Galaxy. Super.  I'm just glad No More Heroes and Endless Ocean are getting delayed.

Get Zack & Wiki first. Why? Because Mario doesn't need your money as much, and will still be around in the spring.

Yup....I agree. Zack and Wiki looks wonderful. And since there is no way that you'll pass on Galaxy, it makes it a smart move.

Though, I also think you should wait for the reviews before you drop a dime on RE: Chronicles. Right now it looks like Capcom's way to make a quick buck. You could say that about RE:4, but that game sold at $20 bucks and was a very solid GameCube title.

My Must
Zack & Wiki
Super Mario Galaxy
REUC (Almost purely for the co-op...Even if it's mediocre, co-op should be fun enough...)
Super Smash Bros Brawl

My Maybe
Harvey Birdman
Soul Calibur Legends (Most likely will wait for next year...)

Why you would choose REUC and Medal of Honor over Zack & Wiki and MARIO GALAXY is beyond me...

See, with REUC my friend is a big RE fan and he wants to play it. Since he only has a 360 (which he has been kind enough to let me borrow on occasion) I wanna get UC so we can play it together.

As for MOH, It's an online game. Mario and Zack and Wiki will still be awesome in 2008. The MOH online experience will probably change by early 2008. Either hardcore players will have moved on to a different game, or everyone will be so skilled that I'll be getting ganked five seconds in by people who play it 16 hours a day.

If you are basing your purchase purely on the online play, then I can't stress my last statement any more...

Though I'm personally the kind of gamer that wants to come back to his collection a couple years down the line and still be able to fully enjoy it... =)

I would be quite surprised if MOH even takes off at all, you may be playing alone right from the beginning. A series as dated and rehased as the MOH series cannot be exciting too many people, even with an online mode.

This Fall is packed... and I still need to get Prime 3 also.

My list looks like this:

1. Smash Bros Brawl
2. Godzilla: Unleashed
3. Super Mario Galaxy
4. Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles
5. Battalion Wars 2
6. Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn
7. Soul Calibur Legends

God, so many titles. I have actually only purchased two games this year though (Pokémon: Diamond and Resident Evil 4) so I have been gearing up for this onslaught. I'm also actually hoping that NiGHTS turns out to be a dud, as I don't want that to enter the consideration list at this point.

Bully, at least the PS2 version, was a must buy. If the Wii version was just a straight port it would still be a definite purchase for me.

You're still trying to justify purchasing those other platforms.  Life is harsh, indeed.

.....or you can be like me and get them ALL.

After I rob a bank or find a treasure chest full of jewels, I'll consider that.

My list stands at 4 for any system for the rest of the year:
- Super Mario Galaxy
- Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles
- Contra 4
- Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Phantom Hourglass is on my "get it when someone trades it in anger" list. I do want to try Link's Crossbow Training though I still can't see myself paying full price for it.

Isn't Link's Crossbow training only $20 with the zapper shell? Good lawd man, it don't get much cheaper.

You seem to have a good set up there ShyGuy. You don't want to see my list of all my disposable income pouring into wii games this holiday season of Kairon has no fiscal responsibility and is an irrational fanboi excitement.

I haven't counted all the games I am getting this year, it has to be around 20 though.

Still too much. By the time it comes out, I could probably get The Simpsons Movie or Superbad on DVD for the same price. I buy based on perceived value rather than price. A piece of plastic and Wii Play Zelda Edition to me isn't worth $20.
