WARNING: Do NOT open the newest Nintendo Newsletter!
« on: March 24, 2003, 02:06:43 PM »
If you want to keep yourself from seeing any BIG Wind Waker Spoilers, DO NOT open the latest Nintendo newsletter sent by E-Mail. Just delete it. Trust us, you don't want to see this!

The biggest hint I'm going to give those of you that just can't stop yourselves is that this newsletter gives away one of the best surprises in the game, and once you've seen it, you're NEVER going to be able to erase it from your memory, completely ruining the surprise.  Please ... just delete that e-mail.

Don't look at the EGM poster, either.  It gives away all the bosses, something I particularly enjoy being surprised about. . . luckily they didn't give away the final boss, and though it seems obvious, they might alter it in an interesting way. . .

If anyone is wondernig what PIAC us talking about above, I was cursing and cursing cause I saw the newsletter. Right now, I am desperately resisting the urge to put millions of 'Shocked' and 'Mad' emotion faces on this post. I was close enough (the post was between PIAC's two posts above).

I guess Rick deleted it. Too shocking.

But why would Nintendo do that?
That is the bisggest spolier I have ever seen in a game in my life, and they had to spoil it like that? Why?

Wow, sounds like NOA's gonna be getting some death threats soon. I'm just glad I don't subscribe to the Nintendo Power Newsletter- even though I haven't exactly been resisting every spoiler possible about the game, this one sounds like a doozy.

I didn't read the newsletter, but I have been reading about it a lot and now I'm a little dissapointed I know so much.  I wish I had been completely in the dark about it until I got to play.  Well, maybe next time.  I'm sure the game will still be great

The newsletter doesn't give anything away that anyone who has ever played a Zelda game wouldn't know. I like the new look, but wasn't surprised by what I saw - if you read the articles explaining the history of Zelda and how Link represents the hero, etc, then you definitely shouldn't be surprised by the newsletter...just my two cents.

I opened it when I got it.  I saw the spoiler.  It was something that I had already guessed though, so I wasn't that surprised, or angry.  I had guessed as much when I saw the first cinematic trailer for Zelda.  It just seemed natural.

Yeah I saw it, but I didn't really care since I already knew. If you go to the now up and running Wind Waker site it basicly tells you the same thing. And even when I realized it at the site, I didn't really care, I guess i dont get emotional over things I'm gonna find out anyway. So you may want to warn people of the site as well.

I've already replied to this thread on the Hylian Legends board, but I'll post here too.

I opened the newsletter, and was quite displeased with how careless Nintendo was.  I've avoided all spoilers except for the sister part, and am extremely disappointed that the game is now ruined for me.

I e-mailed Nintendo asking them not to do this in the future, since thousands of people will now have the game ruined for them, and won't be able to experience the game in the way Mr. Miyamoto intended.

As for the person who said that if you've ever played a Zelda game, you would know...
NO, you wouldn't.  And if you THOUGHT about what you wrote you would realize 4 different ways in which you are incorrect.

Actually, most of you probably GLANCED at the pictures and completely missed the context.  All I'm going to say in the interest of protecting those of you that clearly didn't see what you thought you saw is that ...

The spoiler I am talking about has nothing to do with who that final battle is against.

I'm glad that some of you still missed it, even after having seen the e-mail message.  Just please, save yourself from yourself, and don't open it again to find out what I'm talking about.  Yes, the antagonist in the final battle is obvious, but something else about it ISN'T.

Actually, I didn't even notice who the last boss was.  I noticed the thing you are talking about I am sure.  But the fact remains that I still anticipated all of this long ago, and I don't feel that anything is spoiled by confirming my suspicions.

well if i can still enjoy playing through OoT again after ~5 years, i'm sure knowing one thing about wind waker won't make it all bad. although it would have been nice to be surprised by it, i can't really help that. anyways i think that those people that saw it should stop makin a huge deal about this. its only a game, it will still be fun to play

Well, now that I have calmed down, I guess I can say this:
I did see IT and the other IT, and I must say, it makes me feel more excited (you know how when you get excited about a Nintendo thing, you start shivering inside and giggle like a Japanese Schoolgirl? Yeah, that's how I feel now). That's two things/spoilers I saw. They are both in the same background picture.

What ever other spoiler Rick is talking about, I have no idea. And probably don't wanna.

Well, the thing is that I knew more about Ocarina of Time in the first 5 minutes than I know about Wind Waker, email or not.  I am normally a pretty spoiler sensitive guy, but this truly does not bother me.  I don't know why people are making such a big deal about it, although I do congratulate PGC for telling us not to read it.

Well, I don't why you AREN'T making such a big deal out of it. It was something totally unexpected - those guys who seemed to have expected it, really?
I for one didn't expect it. To me, this Zelda game was a departure from the usual affair, being more of a rescue. If there are any plot twists and so forth in Wind Waker, they must be pretty drastic after I saw that picture with the 'two' spoilers.

I have been trying to keep myself as spoiler free from Wind Waker as possible. The sister issue isn't a spoiler, it's what's motivating Link to go on the adventure. I remember when Majora's Mask was nearly out. IGN64 had movies of possibly everything in the game, and I, having just bought  computer with internet, downloaded every single one. That spoiled MM for me, and I have wanted to be as unknown as possible to the main story elements and developmentsof Wind Waker.

Anyone that says that they "anticipated this" clearly did NOT see what the spoiler was, they only thought they did.  I mean, yes, the antagonist is a spoiler of sorts.  But there was something FAR worse in that e-mail.

Well, I've already deleted the email, so it doesn't concern me anymore. I saw two things, and they were both on the background picture. What ever Rick is talking about, is it in the movie that comes with the email, or is it the picture of it before you click for the movie?

Please edit your post to remove the "spoilers" what you are referring to is indeed what I think people are all up in arms about, but you did miss one thing.  Look in the lower right corner of the email.  What do you see?  But PLEASE edit your post to remove reference to the things which you declared were in it.

given that this is a thread about a WARNING about spoilers, and you come in here giving a description about what those spoilers are, I would ban you on the spot.
