That sentence made me want to hunt you down and add your skull to Khorne's Skull Throne.

I swear, one more comment claiming Warhammer is a ripoff of Warcraft, and I'll bring down the Daemonhammer.

Well it sure seemed like WoW with like more realistic character models. Wasn't impressed.

It's all the same. Elves and humans and orcs . . . . dwarfs and half-lings and goblins and taurens and minotaurs and all that fun stuff.

That and I saw the Dwarf video on IGN and it's the same freaking area as the outside of Ironforge. Or at least that was my impression.

Oh but . . . LoTR has nothiing on Lich King lol:

Edit: and just asking, didn't LoTR have like the basis of (the online game) you "aiding" the fellowship? Like isn't that the whole "lore" of the game?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't that like, make the lore silly and non-sensical?

Obviously you haven't played the game much, you don't just aid the fellowship, you experience other parts of the Tolkien lore. Yeah they had to make adjustments but they made it fit well within the Tolkien world. The aiding of the fellowship is just one part of a rich world and culture to explore.

I dunno the fact that there are tons of warriors going out and questing and helping the fellowship just seems weird to me.

Why is that weird? Even though they are touched much upon in the books I doubt the fellowship was the only one fighting against the evil that was sweeping the land. The game handles the fellowship part pretty well actually, it isn't like the billion Jedis in Star Wars Galaxy. What I most like about LotRO is its focus on quests instead of PvP, which is completely optional. Not to mention the fact that WoW is not that newbie friendly anymore, I remember reactivating my level 30 character and there was NO ONE around.

It just seems odd to have the players interact with the characters of old that's all.

Anyway getting this discussion back on track (there is none) I think I'll be renewing my Wow account soon to prepare for death knight love haha.

I see what your saying but it provides a sense of being there to give a helping hand. Granted I haven't seen end game content so I don't know how involved you get (I never have much time to play these games) towards the end, but considering the game still has HUGE chunks of the world to be opened up makes me excited. They are even throwing around the idea of housing, most likely using an instance to build houses.

Yes, Warhammer's dwarves look a lot like Warcraft's Dwarves, don't they? Funny that Warhammer showed up in 1983 and Warcraft came out in 1994. Total coincidence that they both look alike.

My point is that the games are so similar (or at least Warrhammer seems so similar) that they seem like WoW clones. Between the UI, the way the quests work and certain environments I just feel like it's WoW in a different local with different sets of lore.

Which, to me, wouldn't be worth the time to play.

Oh, so you weren't trying to claim Warhammer was a ripoff of Warcraft? Sorry, I'm just so use to it now. Stupid Blizzard fanboys...

Now that I re-read your posts and actually now get what you mean, I agree totally. The MMO market has become totally stale. And WoW hasn't helped. All it did was take pieces of other MMOs and combine them into a generic system.

What someone needs to do is make an MMO where players can shape the world, then they'll hit a major section of the gaming market.

No worries. Yeah it's pretty stale and I wish companies would have more I dunno guts to change up the current formula of things.

The game that is the MOST original MMO to day with the greatest concepts for player environmental interaction and world shaping as well as truly unique characters that you yourself make from the ground up, is Shadowbane.

If ANY company came along and made a Shadowbane 2 that was half decent with nice graphics, stable server and a stable client, it would take the MMO world by storm. (IMHO).

Mash, where did you read about the death knight class?

I find it hard to believe they'd only have ONE new class in the game, especially when that class can't be alliance (alliance death knights? Huh?).

Check out the official page for it http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/wrath/

It's got some really unique properties and while all the details haven't been given out yet it will be a hero class that is obtained through questing at level 80. It will start at a high level when you create it (55+) and so far can be any race (which is kinda crazy).

It's the first of hopefully many hero classes they introduce but they want to do one at a time due to balancing issues.

While it seems weird they can be on the alliance, the first video of WoTLK shown at Blizzcon shows a human male and female going through Northrend, eventually the male comes across many undead and something happens where he becomes a death knight and it shows the human using some of it's abilities. Kinda cool.

Sites like mmo-champion.com and worldofraids.com have even more details than the blizzard sites.

I have a hunch they'll implement something to hasten or skip the 1-60 grind for all the other classes, too. It sucks too much after you've done it a couple times.

I remember hearing a rumor back when Burning Crusade came out that they were going to allow one character per account to start out at sixty.

Yeah well thankfully SUPER they revealed there is indeed a team of people working on redoing the level 1-60 game so hopefully in time it will be a lot better.

(I have never been able to get a second 70 because 1-60 is so dreadfully boring).
