Okay... how's this for some comfort about what the future holds.

I can guarantee you 100% that Nintendo is already working on the successor to the Wii. Happy now?

Edit: To further elaborate, for all intensive purposes the new Zelda should have already been in the planing stages around 2005. It was really delayed for it's release only because of the Wii controls. It's very disheartening to here that whole 3 year remark because that could mean development hasn't even begun yet.

That is PATENTLY false and you know it. Miyamoto himself suggested in the Wii.com interviews that Zelda was a bit of mess in fall 2005. AND what about Aonouma directing PH?

The way I see it is this.

If Twilight Princess NEVER saw a port to Wii, there is the open potential that Wii may not see a Zelda.

Imagine for a second if things were switched around a bit. Say....Super Mario Sunshine was the last GC first party game to be released by Nintendo. Then they announce a version for Wii will be available. Now flash forward and they say "Well you know Mario games take 3 years to develop, there is a possibility of it being on Wii but we don't know at this time".

Now I'm not comparing SS to the quality of TP but I'm just trying to use it as an example as to how messed up the situation would be for another title.

No people who dislike real games have no taste. In Japan it's not just that non-games are selling like mad but also that gaming is no longer popular. Most people on this forum who go nuts over WiiSports also love Twilight Princess - non-games are an addition to real games, not a replacement. Nintendo was disappointed in TP's sales in Japan while WiiPlay was a huge success and outsold it. If that isn't sh!tty taste in games what is?

Well to be fair the Japanese have pretty much mastered games.

I'm sure someone in Japan could beat me at soul calibur while playing Halo on Xbox live while also getting an A on DDR Max's hardest song.

I don't know what has to do with my post but...

I NEVER said the game lacked polish.

I've NEVER blamed Aonuma, he rocks and had no choice, I didn't believe in his explanation and I've always blamed Nintendo's excecs, if anything, I guess Iwata, maybe Miyamoto, but I rather keep that in a more general sense, money was the reason, not controls or "Zelda is getting stale" excuses.

My knee reaction to the news of the port was something not seen before from me, thats for sure, but I don't recall calling the game "ruined" either, my problem was that this was a cheap thing to do, but I never said the GC original or even the wii port would be "unplayable" or anything close to that, just that it was mediocre, average, merely "ok", in other words, not the quality you expect from a Zelda game.

To quell some of your fears Mashiro, I can guarantee you Nintendo is planning out the next Zelda already. Perhaps they haven't coded a single line, or produced a single model, but I guarantee you Aonuma or someone over there is kicking around a few ideas with Miyamoto. Since the Wii is already a bonafide success you can guarantee a similar controller for use with the Wii 2, which allows Nintendo to develop a new Zelda based on the same innovation of the current Wii. Whether or not Nintendo releases it on this Wii or the Wii 2, it doesn't matter because you will get a *REAL* Wii Zelda.

In any case, that interview was Miyamoto side stepping a question he wasn't entirely interested in answering for whatever reason. There is really little to worry about in the grand scheme of things. And like Miyamoto said it takes 3 years to make a Zelda anyway, so sit back and relax and enjoy the other Wii titles coming to the system in the mean time.

Mayhaps Wii 2 will merely be a power upgrade with the same controls, allowing Nintendo to build upon what they already have without games seeming TOO dated.

Would make sense. Though games like SMG make me think the Wii has loads of potential the most developers don't even come close to touching.

What makes me so excited about PH is that it is actually the first traditional style (Overhead) Zelda game since Link's Awakening that is actually made by Nintendo and not given out to a third party.

Speaking as someone who is near-finished with the game, it IS awesome...

Oh yeah, and Zelda details coming out of the Nintendo Roundtable going on right now...

4:25 ~ Aonuma has a bullet-point list of features in his head already that he wants to implement in the next Zelda. Miyamoto forbade him from letting us in on the secret, though. Rats.

Well Zelda does need a bit of an overhaul, the formula is getting repetitive and I think TP was the perfect game to wrap up the "Old" Zelda.

Mashiro, I just wanted to say I completely understand what you've been talking about concerning Zelda. I, too, agree that Nintendo shouldn't answer as if Zelda might or might not come to the Wii. It's the fact that they seem to be lollygagging around the topic. The Wii SHOULD get a Zelda built from the ground up -- just as all previous Nintendo systems have gotten.

I just wanna know this bullcrap that Matt Cassamassina was touting for E3 concerning a Nintendo franchise being brought back from the "dead". Kid Icarus? Punch-Out!!? Mach Rider? What's the deal, Matt? We've gotten no such thing thus far. Grr.
