Well if Wii Sports and Wii Play would of been labeled as a gimmick that was frustrating, boring, bland and generic the end product would be  something like this PS3 downloadable that got a 3.0 by IGN UK.

I've just poured in 4 hours this morning on Godfather.  Throwing people around and slamming them into things is awesome.  This game seriously is starting to feel like an RPG with all the upgrades to the character's abilities, as well as having his own little crew following him around.  The other aspect is the amount of RESPECT points you can earn by how you dress and how you extort business owners.  The gun gameplay works beautifully like 007: Everything or Nothing; however, the pointer when shooting body parts needs to be a little more sensitive.

In terms of graphics, Blackhand Edition is awesome because the entire game world streams--even going in and out of buildings.  There's no separate loading screen and room for interior areas...so far at least.  The character models look like an advanced GCN game (sans the models from Fight Night and Resident Evil 4).  The textures are beautifully done.  Pictures on restaurant walls look clear.

Other minor gripes:  EA should've made the menus more Wiimote friendly.  I've accidentally tried pointing at the menus, which can only be controlled with the analog stick.  The GPS map while driving needs to zoom out so you can see if you need to jump on the freeway.  Going to the map screen needs to be more intuitive.

CONCLUSION:  This game makes True Crime: New York look like crap.  Not only is the framerate about a 100 times better than True Crime, the graphics and RPG elements make sense.  In terms of the GTA series, no verdict just yet.  It doesn't have the variety of the GTA series, but it certainly sticks to the art direction well.

Well while there isn't as much variety than something like GTA since Godfather has to stay true to the Godfather license or else people will go ballistic over it not being like like the franchise it's representing. But I do think Godfather on the Wii trumps GTA in the fun factor, game play and controls department. To this day I'm not a big fan of GTA's glitchy nature and controls that felt a little too stiff for me.  I hope that Rockstar does a good job with Manhunt 2 to show to people that M rated games could be represented well on the Wii.

I'm still wondering if I should pick it up or not, since I do own 2 other versions but the Wii controls sound like a blast. Yesterday I almost picked it up but got Lost in Blue 2, though after reading some opinions on the game, I may be better off taking it back (luckily I did not open it) and maybe getting Godfather.

Honestly, if you've already played this on another console, I don't think there will be enough newness here for you to do it all again.

The way I see it, if you've never done any of the sandbox crime games then this is CERTAINLY the pick of the litter, but if you've already done a few, the content of the game will be all too familiar.

Unless you're a freak for these kinds of games, then you'll probably adore the game.

This game is an absolute blast. Not much more gratifying than choking the sh!t out of a biotch. I was pleasantly suprised with the controls. They are almost perfect. This game is credited for selling one wii, as my buddy is now sold on the system. Unfortuanatley he wont be able to find one anytime soon. ANyway the game is a must buy.

BTW i must confess and apologize. I initially thought wii sports was uBergay. At the request of a friend who wanted to play tennis i reluctantly open the game and put it in. THe damn game turned out to be Pwndz. I felt like an azz since i had the system since launch and played wiisports for the first time last week. Been hooked ever since.  thus i must aplogize for calling wiisports gayzors. Well it is kinda gayzors but its funner (lack of a better word) than hell. I bow down.

Has anyone else grabbed a lounge singer and vigorously shaken them to the left and right while shouting, "YOU'RE F*CKING TERRIBLE! STOP SINGING!!! STOP IT!!!" much to the amusement of their friends in the room?

Does this game have multiplayer

I hope spiderman 3 gets the controls right like they did with this game cause that would be an instant buy for me.

Nope, sadly no multiplayer to speak of.

Sadly, no crime sandbox game has ever featured some sort of multiplayer mode.

Didn't Saints Row have some sort of online feature?

thats a good idea. One which i have already considered. But i figured i wait till Brawl. Mainly because Zelda, Godfather and Wiisports are consuming me. And Medal of Honor drops next week! FOCK Thank GOD Metroid was delayed. I can barely afford all these games and dont have enough hours in a day to get to all these. Fock It. Maybe ill wait till brawl comes out. Hopefully that will be a year from now...

Yeah, I know, but I'm glad I found it because of the sheer number of games I'd LIKE to try but never did because I didn't think they warranted a buy and never found time to go rent them.

Also, another friend (Matt) started playing Godfather yesterday (he recently quit WoW, yay!) and he was already further into the game than I was because he went right for the missions instead of running around capturing businesses.

I swear, doing this with buttons is pretty meaningless, but doing it by actually making the motions is a thrill and I hope the game sells accordingly so this fact becomes apparent to 3rd parties who don't believe M games will sell on the Wii.

GOD hearing all this news makes me wish for a port of GUN to the Wii...

I actually have Gun for GC and am enjoying it FAR more than I have any right to.

Is GUN worth the price?  I remember when I first heard about it, it sounded like it'd turn out to be a good game, but I haven't played it.  It's on my list of games to get after the Wii has been out for forever and GC games are in the bargain bin .

I just picked up The Godfather the other day, and I'm enjoying it so far.  I did have some frustration toward the beginning in the gun training mission - I could not lock on and then aim toward specific body parts with the Wiimote.  I tried for about 20 minutes, finally one of my friends got it by a fluke and finished the mission.  The one gripe (it's actually just an annoyance) I have is that you either have to have everything inverted, or everything not - i.e., I like my camera controls inverted, but the free-aim standard.  Also, I have to say that this is the first Wii game to impress me visually (not that I have seen that many - Wii Sports, Madden, Rayman, Excite Truck, and Trauma Center).  As stated earlier, it looks better than True Crime: New York by leaps and bounds (though that isnt hard to do), but what really made me say, "wow, that looks pretty good" was the crispness of the texture on the damaged rear of a car I was driving.

It's weird that I've never tried one of these free-roaming crime games, considering that if there are NPCs in a game, I generally try to kill them.  I typically quick-save right before I mess around so that I can move on without any heinous acts on my virtual conscience, so maybe that's why playing the bad guy doesn't seem to sit well with me.  Still, the Wii controls make this sound intriguing.  I'm torn.

Whenever I get the feeling of being bad and start killing for the heck of it, all the Police suddenly forget the dough I dished out and start wailing on me. If you get cornered, you're as good as dead. I suppose I could start throwing molotov cocktails, but that might do even greater damage to me. Running through the streets on fire.

What I found very funny was burning an a** who was crouched behind a corner and listening to his screams. Like in Austin Powers, only funnier cause it was trying to be serious.

I find I still get confused with the controls in tense moments. I end up falling back on instict when I could have handled the situation if I only kept the contoller in mind.

And when I want to slam someone against a wall I end up head butting instead. Or if I want to slam their head on a counter, it does nothing or swings them around. But those are minor and happens rarely.

What I find the best in the graphics is the flame and particles. Very sharp compared to other textures in the game.

Then the create-a-character. At first he certainly didn't sound like I imagined the guy I made would sound. But after playing for a few hours, the voice has grown on me.

Fun game, especially for the second Wii game I've bought. Metal of Honor might be my third . . .
