I love turn-based RPGs and don't want to see them go away (see my relief over DQIX in the DS section), but I'm actually eager to see how this game plays...
And besides, this is the FIRST Akira Toriyama Art that I have EVER liked. That's gotta say something when usually his stuff makes me vomit a little in my mouth.
And I think Nintendo got very lucky with the Wii and this game. DQ: Henshin (the tv-game Swords is apparently based on) and the Wiimote went together SO WELL that Square had no choice but to make a cash-in title. There's no equivalent Square title on PS3, so right now it looks like Nintendo is being favored to consumers.
Also, Squaresoft probably would've waited for FF:CB to do well or not before shifting their dev resources around, but now they might move much sooner if DQ:S does gangbusters, thus negating the mindshare advantage of the PS3 with the upfront sales data a successful wii release might net them.
DQ:S is like a gift for Nintendo:
-Square couldn't resist making the title to cash-in
-the game showed off the Wii's strengths because it was easy, cheap, and fast to develop because it was based on a pre-existing one and the Wii is so easy to dev for
This basically makes Square one step closer to commiting to the Wii over other systems!
Of course, all this hinges on sales success. But I know I'll be doing my part!
