I would probably get it if I had the points; I'm at zero right now, which is weird because for a while I had a few hundred points, but not enough to buy anything, but I haven't had actual zero in a while. All my money right now is tied up in real Wii games, so I'll have to wait and pick this one up later. If I want to play something by Treasure I should go back and play some more Gunstar Heroes, which I haven't played much apart from co-op.

For future reference, please keep Simpsons discussions and other OT ramblings out of this and other threads not pertaining to them. We read these threads for their topics, not their "organic discussions," and this thread is already long enough without posters veering off the tracks.

So, has NWR given up on their weekly VC updates?  It seems like this site is becoming less and less useful with each passing week.  90% of the articles here were already just press releases and screenshots that you can find on any video game site.  With the mailbag becoming a non-entity as well, the only original content on te site is the occasional review, and I'd rather go to gamerankings if I don't actually know if I want to get a full-priced game, since I can get a better average from more people.

I need to beat some other games first, but Wave Race 64 is definitely my next VC download.  I'm so glad you can snag them at any time.

I was wondering if they were going to have to get rid of the mentions of Kawasaki.

I have love for Galaga, but I dunno if that is really a good rendition of Galaga.

I think this week is an extremely strong week, with 3 games that are worth your money...but which ones do I choose to buy is the question.

Lolo makes me happy. If I'm missing over the next couple of days... you'll know why.

Never really thought about Wave Race 64 needing to be altered.  Kind of a bummer even it really doesn't affect much.  Hang on to those N64 cartridges.  These days with copyright lawyers breathing down everyone's neck it's a good idea in general to hang on to old media anyway because you never know when some licenced song or whatever is going to be replaced by generic muzak.

Well, I doubt games from the systems which are on the VC would have many licensed songs. I'm sure this'll be more of a problem for the PSN, since they were the smarties who used the extra space on the disc for that kind of stuff.

According to NeoGaf a user spotted images of Super Metroid, the original Metroid and another Shining Force game recently being put up on the servers.

Mayhaps they shall be released soon on VC? ::prays for Super Metroid::

I'd be surprised if we got Super Metroid before Metroid plus a long wait between.  Unless they're planning to release both simultaneously in celebration of Prime 3.  But I kinda doubt that, especially considering Super Metroid's so good it would probably distract some people from Prime 3. :b

The way I see it is they'll probably release the original Metroid released on the same day as Metroid Prime 3.  You have to remember that Nintendo included the original Metroid in both Metroid Prime and Zero Mission, and so releasing it again on the same day as Prime 3 just seems so obvious.  Plus it wont harm Primes sales since the original Metroid is so horrible most people will stop playing it after 5 minutes anyway.

The original Metroid isn't horrible.  It's unrefined and I don't blame anyone who doesn't like it, but if you can manage to get into it it's a pretty cool game.  I still wish Nintendo would make another Metroid game as nonlinear as the first game.  Just with an automap, and refilling your energy when restarting after dying.

Oh I've tried getting into the original Metroid many times but I just can't.  It's a perfect example of a game that was limited because of the time and hardware it was released on.  That's why Super Metroid was a true masterpiece because thanks to the SNES power they were finally able to make everything great about Metroid finally work right.

Was anybody aware they posted another update for Star Fox 64

I downloaded it and I think it brought back the best of both worlds from before, it doesn't have the 64-emulated slowdown

anything else it may have i'm not sure of.  Not sure if the moddified the control or not

Metroid is like a classic silent movie.  It's historically important and at the time blew everyone away and everyone with an interest in games should familiarize themselves with it.  But it's dated and doesn't really hold up.  A lot of older games are like that.  I can't really play any Atari 2600 games.  If they're arcade ports usually I can play the arcade version but any pre-NES console game I find a chore to play.  For NES games I find a lot of the action games hold up but the more complex titles like Metroid or Zelda or any of the RPGs seem so limiting compared to the games that followed them.

It's okay to dislike these games as long as you've tried them and acknowledge their historical importance.  You're only a philistine if you're some bratty teenager automatically dismissing anything that isn't current.  The idiots also don't like Super Metroid because it's old.  That's the difference.

Super Metroid though is timeless.  The only way I see that game ever becoming dated is if the holodeck takes over and people find playing a videogame on a screen with a controller dated.

Can anyone give me some pointers for Wave Race 64? I just got it because everyone says it's great, and I like it, but I'm horrible at it. The operations guide (as usual) isn't much help; it tells me the controls but not how to effectively use them.
