A few new FAQs on GameFAQS today, one specifically concerning itself with the Cave of Ordeals.  There's a tip for the 3 Darknuts (and maybe for the single ones) that I will definitely utilize if it truly works...apparently their armour can be blasted off using bomb arrows, but only if I manually target their feet.  Unfortunately one of the Darknuts is supposedly under the starting ledge, so I won't be able to strip down at least one of them, assuming I can bomb arrow their armour off from all the way up there, but since it's the last fighting floor I will definitely try since I expect to have many bombs and arrows still and will have nothing better to use them on.  BOOM!

As for the armor there's that magic armor that drains rupees instead of health when you get hit

I rather liked the improved spin attack, found it very useful, I agree that the ball and chain rock, though it's a little too slow to be used in regular combat against more than one or two enemies, still it's the best way I think to take out those annoying Ice soldier guys.  So what exactly are the bomblings good for?

With so many Rupee chests in the game (though I suspect some might actually be a certain type of bomb when you don't have the proper bomb bag) the primary use I had for the Magic Armour was to drain my maximum so I could clear out many chests.  :P  Though since in the Cave Of Ordeals enemies will drop Rupees instead of hearts, maybe I'll consider using it a few times there.  It drains too fast for me to keep wearing it, but it maybe be handy for a couple of the more difficult rooms.

I think that be the point.  Only be handy for a few areas.  Though... Best part of the Ball and Chain is here you are facing against someone blocking everything and its much easier just to whip that out, hit em, and follow up.   Bomblings are stronger then regular bombs so they blow up some things regular won't in my experience and for distance.  Though the skeletons that you defeat in the desert temple and blow up with bomblings.  Later you can just use the Ball and Chain on them once there knocked down instead.  Which rocks.  Also Ball and Chain can take out multiple enemies as well.  Plus keep the bats away.

I cleared the Cave of Ordeals!  It took me 59 minutes.  I used bomb arrows at the feet of the three Darknuts to blast their armour off.  Had I known I'd have to be at ground level to do it, I wouldn't've wasted them on the earlier Darknuts from above.  But I figured, I was losing, so why not try again?  I had two Bomb arrows left and one fairy when I cleared it.  In retrospect maybe blue potions would've been better, since I was constantly watching my heart meter anyway.

The only way I could think of would be to get fairy tears from the great fairy, and then get the bottle from Jovani.  The Fairies wont give you any tears if you already have a bottle, but Im not sure if Jovani would be so stingy. Somebody should try this, it would be really cool to have two bottles of the stuff, even if it is just a one time thing.

Edit: Of course the next best thing would be blue potion or chu jelly, which you can carry as much as you want, does the exact same thing, except it doesnt increase your attack power momentarily.

If you're talking about what I think you're talking about, there might be another way... I found a golden chu in a little hole in the wall on the way to Death Mountain. I haven't gotten Fairies' Tears yet, but it sounds like it does the same thing – fills your life and gives you a temporary boost in power, yeah?

Oh, also, Purple Chu juice is dangerous (oh, I guess this was mentioned further up) in that it can give but also also take away your life. I found this out in the Cave of Ordeals, unfortunately, when I drank some and it took my life down to less than one full heart (3/4 I think). Argh!

Are you sure you saw a golden Chu?  I thought so too but it turned out to be a yellow Chu and when you scoop it up in a bottle it's used as lantern oil.

Purple Chus seem to come when Chus mix, at least from what I saw in the Cave of Ordeals.  (I would guess that if the scooped up purple Chu jelly was predominantly blue, it'd heal you all the way, and if some lantern oil was mixed in, it would hurt.  Ick.  That's pure speculation of the "logic" behind it, of course, though, most likely it's just totally random.  I (or rather, Link) drank purple Chu jelly when I (Link) had a quarter of a heart and it "hurt", but it didn't kill me (or Link, rather), much like how in Star Fox 64 Andross can't actually chew you to death.

Yep, I'm absolutely sure. When I put it in a bottle, it gave me the message about healing me all the way and the temporary strength boost, too, which I'd never seen before because I haven't saved Jovani and haven't gotten any Great Fairy's Tears. It was news to me!

Interesting.  Does it look like yellow Chu but is sparkly?

Also, did anyone notice the things you can look at in first-person perspective in the fishing hut?  If you look at things Hena (or whatever her name is) will tell you about them.  Not only do you get an OoT reference, but a mini-game (that uses the Wii Remote) that will add a few more hours just to complete.  I don't know if that's been brought up here yet.

It just looks like a darker color, maybe? I'm not sure, that cave was dark. I kind of just made up the name "Golden" on my own... but it seems like it could be official

Just so were all clear there are Golden Chus and they do the same as the Fairys Tear.. they are rare but i thought there was one in the second set of chus that fall from the celing in the cave of ordeals, i believe this was on one the of the 30th levels so this could be very helpful if you have used a fairy on your way down

There are two types of yellow Chu's.  One is just a regular yellow chu that is used for lanturn oil.  The other is called a "Rare Chu" and gives you "Rare Chu Jelly" and works exactly like Fairy Tears as ZeldaWarlord stated.  These "Rare Chu's" seem to be the same color as yellow chu's, but with a nice sparkly shine to them

The one is quite helpful in the Cave of Ordeals, especially if you've used some type of healing item already and are looking for a new one.  The Rare Chu in the CoO falls in the center of the other Chu's in the second group of them.  You can see a sparkle on the ceiling if you stand on the ledge before you drop down to fight them.

A little comment about the end of the game When Ganon lost the Triforce of Power is wasn't because of Zant breaking his neck. The more plausible explination is since he was stab through with the Sword of Evil's Bane, which is an item also blest by the goddesses, his hold on the Triforce of Power weakened. Also it doesn't nessarily mean that he is dead. In Japanese mythology there are many ways for a being to surrvive death. In addition his form was mearly a "borrowed" form his "true" existance was that of the golden cloud.

He's not dead, nor did he lose his piece of the Triforce...The Triforce of Power was merely suppressed by the Master Sword...

yeah i really doubt that someone who refers to him as his god can actually contain the power to kill him, plus he will never lose the triforce because he is ganon and thats how he rolls

Your right, the magic armor does drain ruppees even when you aren't taking damage, but it also converts damage.  I used it a great deal in the cave of ordeals, since they don't give you health there, but they do give you money.  So I'd use it in rooms where I was pretty sure there would be quick action and there was a good chance I'd take damage, I'd also use it if I was pretty sure I was gonna take a lot of damage, like when facing multiple ice soldiers.

As for the Rare chu I actually first encountered it in a cave in hyrule field, and there's a cave on snowpeak that has it too, I get the feeling there are a couple in every area

Sorry for the lack of Spoilerocity, but anyway, everybody does know that there are digging spots with hearts at certain levels in the cave too right... you just have to use wolf senses to see them, and they are mostly in rooms with the ghost rats in them as well so its pretty easy to notice them

So, not to just totally ignore Bill's answer as to why Midna broke the goddamn mirror, but I was wondering if anyone else had any theories as to why she did it.

I mean, could it be cause hylian/twili crossbreed babies would look really really creepy?

Well think about it...Since the very beginning Midna had seen Link's determination in finding Ilia, and then after that his determination in recovering her memory (with the not-so-subtley romantic scene after he does so)...It was more Midna realizing she had lost a battle she hadn't even entered...

Hardly!  Link didn't cry when he first realized Ilia wasn't dead, unlike when he saw Midna was alive.

Sides, its hardly a reason to cutoff the only pathway to an entire world with whom you've just made REALLY good friends with the leaders of, ya know? The threat was over, everyone is happy, and trade could have flourished between the two kingdoms.  Fo reals.

There was never any evidence leading Link to believe Ilia was ever dead, quite unlike Ganondorf holding Midna's mask up in the air...And he was QUITE visibly shaken when Ilia didn't recognize him...

And as for Midna's case, that's just how strongly she felt for Link, I guess...Breaking the mirror was her only option to break the connection between them!
