Athrun Zala:  I thought the CPS3 was designed specifically for Street Fighter 3 and higher resolution 2D Sprite Graphics.  If you look at MVC2 it is using lower resolution Sprites and high resolution 3D backgrounds.  It could be because Capcom made it on the cheap, however, I assumed the CPS3 engine was still better with Sprites and animation.  Could be wrong...and I have no problem with being wrong...because I have been several times before.

I personally prefer the SF3 engine. Sprites look much more detailed and animated, and MvC2 is such a "broken" game with all the little Infinite combos and unbalanced tiers. Though I'm sure Capcom would not make the same mistakes with a Vs Nintendo game (At least I would hope not). Anyway, I'm sure Capcom could have SF3 style sprites with MvC2 like gameplay.

Anticipating: Mario Galaxy(Wii), Blue Dragon(360), Dragon Quest:Swords(Wii), Dragon Quest IX (DS)

Hocotate:  I wouldn't want them to even take a chance.  I like the SNK VS. Capcom games better than the other crazy zaniness.  I don't think you need crazy zany to represent Nintendo or Sega.

I think it needs to be whimsical, but also balanced.  Think DarkStalkers with graphics and animation quality compared to SF3 engine, then combine 2 on 2 battles (And allow health to regenerate while you characters are not in combat.)  Bouts are single matches only since health replenishes.

SF3 and MvsC2 use the same low res character sprites :S (although I believe the ones in SF3 use better animation)
still, the MvsC2 engine is the superior one (because the Naomi is a lot better than the CPS3), only that Capcom was too lazy to do it right....

and I'd rather have the "broken" MvsC2 one rather than the too-demanding-and-extremely-hard-to-master SF3 engine...

I'd rather have the Melty Blood engine (that's available on NAOMI, too) than any SF game. Six buttons suck.

I agree, the sprites in SF3 look so much better then any other 2D capcom fighter imo.

MvsSNK2 still has like 3 times more people and better stages designs, esp. the final shin akuma/rugal stage

Hocotate:thats 3rd strike sprites, orginal street fighter 3 which has has awful sprites (thats what u expect from 97)

anyway kof ex2 ran better then the top street fighter sprite for gba, so no reason why ds cant pull it off

I would assume if they were to use the SF3 engine, the sprites would be more like 3rd Strike then regular SF3 or second impact. They would probably look better then 3rd  strike... well this is Capcom so maybe not better, but just as good.

is it 4-button?

in any if I had to choose one, it'd be the Guilty Gear engine (Hi-Res sprites FTW)

3+1 buttons (i.e. 3 attack buttons plus one special button), standard indie fighter layout. Perfect for SNES diamond or GC-style controllers.

Of course Bleach DS would be a great game to base that on, too. 3+1 buttons plus a layer change button so technically 3+2 but the layer change is rarely used (and a guard button but that's unnecessary since you can guard with the dpad). Just drop the cards. Flashsteps must stay in, those things plain rock. One screen per player allows abilities that make you invisible but you still know where you are. And it supports four players. Online.
