Yes, that's Kid Dracula.

It's a Konami series with games on the NES and the GB (which I had).  Only the GB game came to the US.

Wikipedia:

The story of Kid Dracula is relatively simple. The self-proclaimed Demon King, Kid Dracula, has awoken from a long sleep, only to discover that the evil dinosaur-like creature Garamoth has challenged him (note that a character named Galamoth makes an appearance in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night). Swiping his father's cape, it is then up to Kid Dracula himself to set out on the adventure to destroy the monster.

The game is basically a platformer.  You move till you reach a boss, fight him, get a new power, and next level.  The cool thing was Kid Dracula could turn into a bat (from the start I think) and fly for a limited time.   For a 2D platformer this added some dimension.

I have pretty good memories of this game, but I don't know where my copy is.

i just noticed ROB has a triforce on it, and its cool how dr wily is standing next to it with this "look at my new evil creation" look.

There are a lot of characters left out from the picture.  But there are references to those games and those characters.

Mega Man isn't in the picture but Doctor Willy and Protoman.

Mario isn't in there, but Luigi and Princess Peach are.

I didn't see Link, but I think I saw Ganon or at least a Pig monster from the series.

This artwork is fake, but it is incredibly well done and beautiful.  I wish Nintendo had created this...and would use it in posters, because I think it makes a great impression.

EasyCure: I think the Luigi kid is from Rainbow Islands, a sequel to Bubble Bobble.  I never would have remembered that except that Nintendo Power had an article on the upcoming DS remake which I read yesterday.

The Koopaling is Morton Koopa Jr., to be exact.

Now for my question, does anybody know what's up with the "Help me" message scrawled on the side of the pyramid?

Edit: The catboat is from Darius, someone said above...I thought it was Parodius, but I think he might be right.

Actually it looks like the fish space ship was from Darius, but the catboat is definitely from Parodius.
