There's a big difference. By annoucing the Wavebird prior to the Cube's release the userbase knew about it beforehand which gave them flexibility when they bought their console. If they were interested in a wireless controller they knew not to immediately buy four wired Cube controllers. They knew when the new controller was coming out and thus could wait for it.

What I'm talking about is more like the Xbox controller revision. The userbase buys their console under the assumption that there is one standard controller only to later discover that had they waited they could have got a different one. Thus there's the possibility of someone feeling ripped off because they just bought four of the old controllers. With the Cube anyone who did five seconds of research didn't accidently buy four wired controllers.

Plus technically I wouldn't consider something that was planned from day one to be a revision. Revision suggests that they go back to drawing board and rethink things. The Wavebird was more of an alternate controller than a revision. It wasn't standard issue. It was like an arcade joystick.

It's not a big deal anyway because both Wii controllers will work with the same games. It's not like when Sony added two analog sticks to their Playstation controller.

You know Ian's right when he says that in the end it will all come out in the wash. But I think the revisions will just be something really minor in the overall scheme of things.

Wired blog - Game|Life says that is has been hearing rumors of "a bunch of" games being announced by Konami for the Wii.

Not as if we didn't see this coming, but new colors for Christmas sounds like a good way to keep sales going. I just wish they had a nice dark 'royal' blue Wii in the planning.

I think a DDR for the Wii is almost a given once they figure out how to make a Dancepad peripheral that will plug into the Wiimote and how to doa controller mode with just the Wiimote.

It's probably Castlevania related. The most current EGM on news stands says something about an exclusive announcement in their next issue. I recall them saying something along the lines of "fans of Symphony should stay tuned" and it didn't seem to allude to SotN on Xbox Live. The next EGM should be hitting newsstands within in the next week or so. Some subscription holders might even get them in the next day or so.

My next guess would be something Metal Gear related, though Castlevania still seems more likely. The 3D iterations of the series kind of got lost in the shuffle on PS2 and to a lesser degree Xbox. I think it could flourish on Wii considering the console and Nintendo consoles for the past 2 generations have been so light on action/adventure games of that type. Castlevania is bound to perform better without the likes of Devil May Cry or God of War stealing the spotlight (which were just better games than Lament and Curse).

I'm hoping for a 2D Castlevania. It wouldn't have to use the Wii remote. I'd be happy enough to see a new console Castlevania.
