In one hot minute, I use the controller to swat a fly, do squat-thrusts as a weight lifter, turn a key in a lock, catch a fish, drive a car, sauté some vegetables, balance a broom on my outstretched hand, color in a circle and fence with a foil.

That sounds good, and I was a little worried that they would have entire games dedicated to stuff like this, but I'm glad to see it showcased in the quick and non-reptitive format of Wario Ware as I think it will work well in small dosages.

I dont like the TP sword movement being controlled as an actual sword. The last thing I want is that the TGS trailer video, the one everyone claimed as being exagerated, to become the way we have to actually play the game. At least this is just an option, but what about the real Zelda for the rev? Im worried.

The rest is good stuff, fishing, Wario Ware, etc.

I would think there's some type of sensitivity bar to adjust to your personal preferences.  Maybe on a lower setting, a flick of the wirst swings the sword, and on a higher setting, it actually requires the full swing.

Everything sounds great though.  I wonder if it's a normal tennis game, or Mario?

Slight movements for sword slashing is even lamer than exaggerated movements, that wouldnt feel like a sword fight, its even more difficult to grasp. And what about the spin attack? does Nintendo really plan to make us spin like idiots in the room, and at the same time miss the action on screen?

Fear the future Mantidor. Fear it. It is coming, rushing, headlong at us and we can't stop it. And it holds only doom and disappointment.

At the end, I don't so much put the controller down as have it pried from my hands.
I think that is the best line in the whole article.

"No, SIR!!! You have to give it back, the demonstration is over now!!!"

Its good to know that once I pick it up and start to play, I'm not gonna want to put the controller down.

The third game, and probably the most fun, is also the simplest: tennis. The controller becomes a racket, and I'm smacking forehands and stroking backhands. The sensors are fine enough that you can scoop under the ball to lob it, or slice it for spin.
The fact that the controller is so sensitive that I can actually perfect the game of tennis w/o ever having to go outside and actually play tennis is very, very interesting. I can already imagine the simulators that are gonna spring up for every type of thing.

So seems a tennis game is coming our way early, great.

I would imagine the sword fighting in Zelda would still be the slow paced fighting (wait for an opening then strike) but instead of pushing A you swing down and then you can't attack again until Link has recovered.

there's no brightside to this for you is there?

without thinking of "proper" way for a spin attack to be executed without actually spinning your body around, how about you just toss the controll in the air and make it spin like a pizza? that way you dont have to get off your ass AND you dont have to miss the action on screen. no wait thats too lame, and so is feeling immersed in the game. relax dude, relax.

I agree, but you obviously didn't like the full swing option either.  I was trying to make it easier on you.

Wario Ware sounds like the perfect training game to get people familiar with the controller.

Where have you BEEN all my life???

I really do feel like I'm falling for you... *sigh*

And Nintendo proves once again that people don't know what they want until they give it to you. I didn't even know that I wanted this until they revealed it. The most I was hoping for was some kind of gyroscopic control, and I'm more than a little surprised that neither Sony nor MS decided to make even that leap.

This is still just a technological stop-gap though. I still want my holodeck damnit! Or at least the matrix. That would probably be far easier to pull off.

Here is a link to the entire article. It makes Nintendo look VERY GOOD. It's also one of the best articles I've read in a while (about Nintendo or Wii).

THIS IS THE LINK TO THE FULL ARTICLE...THOSE THAT CAN"T SEE THIS FAIL AT LIFE!

What I dont get is why everything has to be tied to the remote 3D functions, why cant they keep it down linked to a button?, pushing blocks will be great with the remote, and fishing, and even bow and arrows if its pulled right, and the obvious hookshot, but not the sword fights.

Everything done regarding the sword fights in the Zelda series have been nothing but improvements from Ocarina to the Wind Waker, doing this seems a step back, the fantastic fights of the wind waker are impossible if the remote is used that way. Unless they just replaced the A button for remote swinging, which would be terrible, the remote would look like just a g!mmick instead of being properly used.

Are you saying that Nintendo will intentionally turn their near-perfect Zelda gameplay into a gimmmick? I think you're projecting negativity and pessimism into a possibility that exists only in your mind for now and will remain a non-entity until the distant future.

Pfffffft...........Sure they were fun, but fantastic? Yeah right....

How can you be so sure that sword fights won't be fun with the NRC? You've never even played it. You, sir, are prejudice.

Alright then I'll do it.  This is to much what we want to hear.  All of those ideas have been batted around here before.  Its just to much of a good thing.  Even though this is suppose to be legit.  I'm skeptical  until I see the actual article.

Did you even bother to click the link in my post above?

It has the entire article. And if you scoll down far enough, you'll see that it even has the captions to the pictures in the article.

Is it legit?

Hm.  One thing about sword fights with Zelda:  It'll most likely take place in a 3rd person view.  I can see this as a very interesting and fun way to play, since it'll be like watching yourself perform the moves.  I'm also convinced your direct moves will not necessarily perform the actions.  I.e. You'll make a gesture for a certain type of move.  The advantage with using the Wiimote for sword actions over button-smashing is that you'll be able to stop in the middle of a move and alter your attack gesture.

In either case, great article, awesome news.  God I'm glad Nintendo has created the Wiimotes.  I dont think I'd be interested in buying consoles this generation otherwise.
