I am speaking of
Daxter and
Syphon Filter Dark Mirror, which received a 9.0 and a 9.3 from IGN respectively.
Penny Arcade also gave a ringing endorsement of the Daxter demo. They both release on Tuesday. I simply don't like Jak and Daxter games, but IGN made Daxter sound like a simple, fun old school platformer, getting from point A to point B. I'm game for that. I was a fan of Syphon Filter in 1999, but not so much since then. I think the multiplayer alone is is the biggest enticement for me. However, it seems neither game suffers from anything on the usual laundry list of problems that PSP games encounter: Bad camera, terrible controls, awful load times, downgraded PS2 game, just a bad game, etc. Could it be that developers are finally starting to design games with the PSP's control scheme in mind?! THAT would be a miracle.
I'm gonna give em both a chance because I'm so sick and tired of my PSP being nothing more then a machine that enables me to catch up on missed episodes of Lost. I bought the thing for games, dammit, and in this regard the system has been an unbelievable disappointment to these eyes. Maybe March is the only month that good PSP games are released. And if they suck, I'll pick up Metroid Prime Hunters and Tetris DS next week and carry on with my life.
