I liked ricocheting Koopa shells. I was disappointed that Super Mario 64 didn't have kickable Koopa shells...it would be like billiards/pool/etc.!

I don't know if that might be too complex for a Mario game but they could use it SOMEwhere in a 3D game sometime. Maybe like a Mario Party mini-game or something...

What you didn't like surfing on the shells, I found that fun just to mindless ride the shell around the first stage.

the mario universe is pretty vast when it comes to ideas, there really isn't a big need to expand. Its how you use oldchool ideas thats ineresting. As far as using the mario franchise, Mario Party uses it the best. It has oldschool characters, references and the like. They just need to make a mario game that has everything from the old Mario's in it. This i s why Paper Mario is so great, if they could just combine the platforromign greatness with the scope, story, and charm of paper mario then they would succeed in making a killer-app mario game.

It would be fun to throw shells around, if more enemies were wandering around. Imagine trying to run around a level to stop a ricocheting shell from hitting a pack of wild yoshis or something without getting hit yourself.

All I want is to have Mushrooms, and Goombas/Koopas and Bricks and a few other things to do that are remeniscant fo SMB for NES. BUt I do also want them to try new things as every Mario game has been radicaly different form the last, oh and the Level goals need to return, SMB had teh flag pole, SMB2 had the slot machine, SMB3 had the cards, SMW had the tape, then mario 64 and Mario 128, nothing!

All I can say is whooooot!!! This either means Nintendo are going to do a Microsoft and launch worldwide quasi-simulataneously or they are looking for an early launch in North America and Japan followed by a European/PAL territory launch later in the year.

I think Mario has really evolved to have a vast world and a vast group of characters.

I would love for 2 games to be made.

1)A Mario RPG that retold the story of Super Mario Brothers 3 and Super Mario World (The only 2 games that were really story continuations) into one interesting Action RPG along the lines of Mario and Luigi for the Gameboy and DS. I want to see those locations and world in a new light.

2)I would love to see a truly special 3D re-envisionment of Super Mario Brothers 3 and Super Mario World. Now I don't want the same game and same levels. What I want is a more linear based game wrapped around stages within the same worlds that existed in Mario 3 and World.

I wish Mario would go back to levels that had very unique and special experiences each level. Super Mario 64 is the best example of this. One world had you race down a slide, and it is only revisited once. Another world has you race a Koopa and that is only revisited once. Bosses were rare instead of frequent, and everything felt fresh.

While maintaining the Mario experience, the levels in Mario 64 just didn't hold the wacky level design that the 2D games had...I mean, come on, where are the smiling clouds and other cutesy things!? In that regard, Sunshine had a more Marioish atmosphere, and it's that direction that Ninty needs to take Mario 128 (with more varied level design of course)...

How can they have level goals like that on the 3D levels? The level goals are the stars and shines. Except for the race to the end type levels.

Actually, that's what I loved about Mario 64. For whatever reason, instead of trying to be whacky or cartoony, they just tried to make it as magical as possible. That's why it's my favorite Mario game.

In contrast, I really don't like Sunshine's style or the styles of it's spin-offs (MK

D!!), because it didn't really even have a style. Just a bland island and lots of nice but kind-of desperate-feeling throwbacks to older games.

For rev, I don't want new mario games to feel like Mario circa-64, or Mario circa-cube. I want a brand new Mario style that's as radical departure as the Wind Waker was.

Mario 64 wasnt as wacky and full of creatures as the 2D ones precisely because it was the first 3D platformer ever, every single Mario 64 level is a huge acomplishment by itself alone, I think we really couldnt ask for more at the time. If they didnt implement many of the creatures of past games, (and the same goes for Sunshine if you think about it) is because they are hard to implement in a 3D enviroment while retaining the fun of its gameplay aspect. Maybe the new remote will allow some of those to come back.

Mario 64 wasn't the first 3d Platformer, it was the first truly good 3d Platformer.

And as for the launch it will probally go like this North America in Early/Mid November, Japan December (or September if they are first), and Europe in early 2007 Febuary/March since that is still part of their 2006 year.

Perhaps this is just wishful thinking, but I have a good feeling Nintendo will actually get the rev out before January in Europe. There have, at least, been whisperings to that effect.

I think that's definitely what Nintendo wants: it would be ideal to launch in all major territories around Christmas time (great sales) but supply could be an issue. I wonder if it will be easier to pump out Revolutions since they aren't as technically ambitious as the 360 or PS3?

They put Camelot as likely, even though they were the first to CONFIRM a game for the REV....an RPG as a matter of fact.

Honestly, other than Nintendo First Parties, Camelot's game will be the most polished out of all of them. Besides, they did announce it about 3 years ago (right after they finished Mario Tennis).

Dasmos, why is it illogical? All they have to do is have some kind of goal that you have to obtain at teh end to the level, if the geniouses at Nintendo cant figure out out how to do it rigth then they need to get new talent cuz I can think of plenty of fun ways to redo those old gola in 3d, the most fun would be the Mario 3 cards or something like that.

I still love mario 64 a lot and it did have just enough Mario feel to be fun, but sinshine was too radicaly different for me to like. I agree with who ever it was that said Mario Party mixes the old with the new the best tahst why I love Mario Party so much, but it still doesnt satisfy my need to have mario run around and bash bricks and kick koopa shells. AI also agree that It woudl ROCK if they remade Mario 3 or World in full 3D or at least take that concept, with the different themse for each world, IE Giant World, Dessert Land, Dark World, etc

Thast what I want to see more than anything. I keep sending emails ideas to Nintendo but they never get anywhere.

Oh God no. I can't stand remakes. It's the most lazy unoriginal cash-grab in the world. If Nintendo has to resort to that then they've run out of ideas and might as well stop making Mario games.

I concur. With the exception of REmake and MGS:twin snakes. Complete graphic overhauls and added story and gameplay is worth it to me, especially sense i never played the originals.
