Yep, I concur.  Very good.  Pulls you in.  Played it until the wee hours of the morning last night.

Ok...lemme ask this.

I...don't like strategy RPGs.  I mean, its not for lack of trying. I played FFTA for months, trying to get into it.  I wanted to like it, so very much.  But...I just couldn't get into it.

I keep hearing all this wonderful stuff about Fire Emblem...given my lack of ability to truly enjoy an SRPG...should I still pick it up? How much of a SRPG is it?

I've never played Path of Radience.  I haven't finished Fire Emblem (GBA) or even played Sacred Stones.  I played only a bit of FFTA.  I've played a ton of AW2.

So yeah, that's my story.  Out of what I've played, FFTA is the only one I really didn't enjoy.

I've never really gotten into Advance Wars, but I love the Fire Emblem series.  I have no other basis of comparison.
I highly recommend at least a rent.  The dialogue and story in Fire Emblem alone, all the characters, are enough to make it interesting, even if you don't like the gameplay style.

Hostile im the other way around, i got into Advance Wars first, and i believe ppl here on the forums got me into Fire Emblem.  I don't know which one i would choose, they are basically the same game with different rules and presentation, although Fire Emblem gives u a good story and character developments with balanced gameplay unlike the more wacky Advanced Wars DS.

I haven't had the time to get into FER yet but with less than an hour into it i think it'll get me hooked just like the previous installments.

I just realized something, i have Advance Wars DS, Lost In Blue, Fire Emblem PR, and CounterStrike CS (PC) taking up my current gaming fix, this is going to be a struggle for me to decide which one to play when the opportunity arrives.  I can easily rack up the hours in any of the mentioned games.  For heavens sake, last night as i was sleeping in my bed i played Lost in Blue for like 3 hours!  <-----yeah i know that is counter productive to sleeping, lol.  Pray for me, for i will most likely lose it just trying to pick which one to play.

Holy crap... Ike is a lord now. So. Manly.

This is my Game of the Year. No competition. I'm enjoying it even more than Civ 4 and RE4, and I didn't think that was possible.

I'm getting this game December 7.  After that I will rejoice with you.  Until that day, I am sad.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

So I've been playing this game for about a week now.  Thus far, I'm pretty happy with it.  The story is really good, albeit a bit cliché.  My biggest complaint is that it's much too easy on the normal skill level.  FE7 (original GBA one) was a lot harder.  Although if you've never played a FE game, I'm sure this is an excellent one to ease you into the series.

Isn't there a hard mode? I don't remember.

I still have nothing but love for this game... I'm in the last stretch of the game, I just need time to finish it. Probably in winter break.

Yeah, this is my first Fire Emblem ever and I played it on Hard mode my first go.  My bro played it simultaneously on normal.  There are some noticeable differences in the way bosses will fight you (in normal, they are practically retarded esp. the last one) but otherwise the regular enemies fight you the same.
Yeah, I really liked this game.  Beat Hard mode, now playing Fire Emblem: Sacred stones and looking for the elusive FE7 for a decent price.
EDIT:  Did Nintendo send anyone else that Fire Emblem survey?  I hope they are getting some answers that will lead to future FEs.

You know that Nintendo toned down the game's difficulty once again. They also destroyed some of the bonus extras that came with the Japanese version. The American version is missing the Maniac difficulty setting - Maniac as in the Japanese version's Maniac mode. The also took out the bonus official artwork of the entire cast of FE6 (one with Roy). As I recall, they also removed a few trial maps that you could only get by linking up with FE6.

Then there's the preorder bonuses where you get a bonus CD soundtrack when you preorder the game. No such luck here for us smelly Americans.

Yeah, there's a hard mode.  But I kept thinking it was going to get harder as the game progressed.  I think I'm just going to finish it up and then I'll start a new file and play on hard and use a different set of characters.

Hey guys I just bought this today. But I'm not sure about playing it cos you know. I heard theres children in it and I hate kids.

EDIT: Ok so I played it and sure enough the kids in the game started crying. In fact the entire cast is an all round group of gays. So far only the pirates have been cool but NO, they had to die apparently because some weak village or something didn't like them stealing chickens or something stupid. Then after the mission BLAH BLAH LET'S CRAP ON ABOUT ETHICS. More like no mercenary has morals at all.
So anyway I was in the shopping center demanding to know where they kept the western potatoes when Drive Safe came around with Simple Plan blaring out telling me that driving on the wrong side of the road is ok if the other guy is drunk while I immediately jumped on my dirt racer to zoom out of ther

Well, you could kill the kids off. Or just not use them again. Unless of course you're a masochist... wouldn't surprise me, since all the evidence points to your hating fun.

I'm not that far yet. I had to rescue the kids beacuse they were dumb enough to get kidnapped. But I hear you hated PoP so anything you have to say about fun is disqualified.

Sands of Time is awesome.  PaLaDiN is just bitter because of the lack of subtitles.

What's everyone's take on Rolf? Is he worth using, or should I just wait for Shinon to show up again?

I admit I never played sands of time, but PoP 2 is tied with Turok for the worst game I ever bought - which means I found it unplayable.
vudu: Rolf totally smokes Shinon  What you'll find is that the more inexperienced they start off, the better they will be.  Potential GET!
