I looked for a recent thread about this game but there was none! Isn't this game due out in the US soon? It needs more hype! I've been hearing from various sources that there's a kickass commercial with CG footage floating around US TV, can anyone confirm this?

yep, saw the commercial tonight.  its all fmv, like how rpgs are mainly advertised...should help it quite a bit.

Haven't seen it myself but that sounds good.  Is Nintendo actually not screwing this up?  This is the big Cube title for the year and it's good to see that NOA knows that and is taking it seriously.

I saw it on mute, and it was pretty decent.  My biggest concern was that there was absolutely zero gameplay showning.  Since IS isn't the best at making 3D renders, the graphics looked a little weak.  I think they should have shown off some of the excellent 2D artwork.

Saw it. Looks great! But all FMV and according to Nintendo Power there are only 6 fmv's in this 60 hour game. Thats 1 every 10 hours. False advertising if you ask me. I wont buy it cause there is a blue haired "hero" and kids as characters. Looks too Japanese for me. The last Japanese RPG i bought was Baten Kiatos. It will most likely be the last.  Need to teach Nintendo that this Japanese crap needs to stop and to make some real rpgs for us westerners. Hopefully the Rev will provide this..

Are there any other big RPGs coming out this season? If not Nintendo might get the attention of the hardcore Japanese RPG crowd.

If you're talking the likes of Bioware or Bethesda, you best look elswhere. I can't think of any other famous Western RPG devs, since a good chunk of them folded (Black Isle, Interplay, etc). Until they announce otherwise, expect them not to touch a Nintendo system with a 100 foot pole.  Pick up a '360. Mass Effect(Jade Empire 2, another KOTOR?) Elder Scrolls 4, and the new Fallout(not confirmed, but most likely) will be home to said system...

Couple with the fact that Nintendo has no tight western connections (See Rare, Silicon Knights, Factor 5), and hasn't bothered to replace them, a western RPG looks quite grim. Unless Nintendo Software Tech steps up to the plate LOL.

On topic, anybody hear of any snazzy pre-order incentives? A demo of Zelda TP would be nice, but too ideal...

Elder scrolls 4 looked promising, but its a hack n slash. I sure do miss the turned based games of old. Ill just stick with my PC and Wizardry 6-8. I dream of Nintendo doing Wizardry 9. Wishful thinking.....

I heard Ubisoft was supposed to give soundtracks of all 3 POP's with the preorder of POP 3. I also heard that the GC is getting shafted once again, and the soundtrack will only be available for PS2 and Xbox preordered not not GC preorderes? There have been no confirmation of this that im aware of, but why in the hell would UBi exclude GC from a Preorder bonus?

Ones with robots, and muscley men! Men with GUNS. Guns that they shoot VIA INTERNET. Via internet with fellow westerners. No, not muscley ones, though they may have guns, because they're crazy. Crazy like Nosferat2.

As far as I know there are no pre-order bonuses planned.

So I was like on this train right. We were travelling along some Path of Radience. And suddenly there was the loud noise and the train was way off the tracks and there were children screaming cos like some Persian soldiers from Babylon (no really) declared they were taking over the train and to turn around and head back to Montreal and one guy got a free cd full of cock rock but he didn't give a copy to some other guy. And WHERE ARE WE GOING? THIS ISN'T FIRE EMBLEM THIS ISN'T FIRE EMBLEM AT ALL!

Oh yeah guys looks like the first reviews are out

Fire Emblem is actually an strategy game with RPG elements :0. And there's very little FMV too but there's in-game cut-scenes.

Japanese RPG's tend to be turn-based vrs western-developed titles are real-time (FF vrs Dungeon and Dragons).

Dear lord.
Sorry.....but I need to quote that in my sig. Hope you don't mind.

Quote

Dungeons and Dragons isn't turn based?
“...there are those who would...say, '...If I could just not have to work everyday...that would be the most wonderful life in the world.' They don't know life. Because what makes life mean something is purpose.  The battle. The struggle.  Even if you don't win it.” - Richard M. Nixon

Now RAB I don't think Nosferat2 is an arsehead.......

Wait. Wait I am getting a FLASHBACK!!

Woah. Is this the same Nosferat2 who has a copy of Super Smash Brothers Melee but refuses to play it because it looks too cute and cuddly? IT IS! The same Nosferat2 who is tired of seeing ads for "DK and other lame games"? IT IS!

I don't think there is a word more appropriate than arsehead, that is within the borders of good taste.
