I guess Nintendo figured out that whole "not release an exclusive RPG for the first two years of the console's life despite having a perfectly capable RPG developer at your fingertips" strategy didn't work for the Cube.

Good to see that sort of inane thought process being rectified for the Revolution.  Just the fact that Nintendo acknowledges that an RPG early in the Rev's life is important is great.  And this suggests that the Revolution will be capable of playing normal games.

I'll buy it! =O

But yeah, we have absolutely no idea what the Rev will entitle, and thus have no idea how "normal" Golden S...errr, this RPG, will be...Hopefully not very normal at all, since that's boring!

True but at the very least the Virtual Boy was unable to have games as long as RPGs so we at least can assume it's not the VB2.

Wow, this is almost exactly what I wanted to hear Camelot was working on. I wouldn't have minded an RPG for the Cube, but its lineup towards the end of this generation is already stong enough.

I remember in an interview one of the brothers stating that the Golden Sun games created a world that was not yet fully explored (like Dyack said with Eternal Darkness). I guess that makes it possible to have a sequal to Golden Sun which can still be very original.

If it is indeed Golden Sun, I hope they manage to keep the hillarious pointless Yes/No questions somehow. The people's reactions were always great.

Meh, Golden Sun was alright I suppose, but the final boss battle in the end put me off from ever picking it up again. I can't really be bothered with most RPG's of today anyway, seeing as how they just bore me to death, so I'm hoping Camelot can come with some great gameplay ideas with their latest project.

btw, how many other RPG's have Camelot made apart from the Golden Sun series?

Camelot made the Shining Force games.  The GOOD ones.  None of that Shining Soul crap.

KDR: Naw, Camelot knew that those conversatoins had been done before, so they went for something fresh.

"Do you think we should go back to help him?"
Choose YES: "Good idea, that's what I would have said!"
Choose NO: "But he could be in real trouble and only you can help him!  Let's go!"  "Screw you, I said no."  "I'm sooooo proud of you! ^_^"

Oh, if this is indeed Golden sun, I have no doubt that it will be THE most beautiful game ever made.

The Takahashi Brothers (going under company names ranging from "Sega" to "Camelot"), made Sega's "Shining Force" strategy-RPG series. It was possibly Sega's premiere RPG series, alongside Phantasy Star, until Sega's non-Camelot-developed games in the expanded "Shining" series killed it's reputation.

When the PlayStation came out, Camelot made "Beyond the Beyond" for Sony, because apparently they weren't tied down to Sega. Sony supposedly pushed them really hard, and demanded that they make sacrifices to the game, because it needed to be a launch RPG. Among most people, Beyond the Beyond seems to have the reputation of being the single worst RPG on the PlayStation. Camelot was clearly not happy about this, got really pissed off, and apparently never wants anything to do with Sony ever again. Probably the best thing I've heard anyone say about Beyond the Beyond is "Ehh... it's not bad... for a Genesis RPG. Which is probably why the Golden Sun games are so good."

Then Camelot made "Shining Force III" for the Saturn. It's supposedly really good, but it never got released in America (of course) so people outside of the most hardcore Sega fans don't seem to know much of anything about it. While making the game, Camelot apparently got into some sort of fight with Sega, got pissed off at them, and don't want anything to do with them ever again. So, they started talking to Nintendo.

Then Camelot made the Golden Sun games on the GBA, and pretty much everyone says they're awesome.

They've supposedly had a "vague intention" of making a GameCube RPG since before the GameCube's launch. But they seem to just keep saying "Nah, we don't want to make another RPG today. Hey Shiggy! Give us Mario! We want to make... ummm... a crazy tennis game! Yeah, that's what we want to do today." Nintendo isn't pushing Camelot to do anything. And it's funny, because Camelot practically seems like a Nintendo second-party these days, but they're just a regular old third party. They're just really happy working with Nintendo.

Personally, I think that after the mess of Beyond the Beyond, and the invisibility of Shining Force III, and the general tarnishing of their old Shining Force name, Camelot needs to get back to work. They need to prove that they can go beyond 16-bit. And they need to prove that they don't just make games for dead systems. Shifting their planned "console RPG" from the GameCube to the Revolution seems like a great idea. I just hope they deliver it this time.
Poor people should eat wheat!
I'm about to go punk up some 3rd parties so they don't release games on other hardware, ciao!

Shining Force III was released in North America just not completely.  They actually made three games in one.  There were three "scenarios" and each one was sold as a seperate game in Japan.  In North America however only scenario 1 was released due to some bullsh!t thing with that f*cking moron Bernie Stolar who was running Sega at the time.  This would be the "fight with Sega" that ended Camelot's relationship with them.

KnowsNothing: Nope, there are some conversations like the one I made up there. I think when you're asked to accept that quest is one case.

Bill: Me neither, I've been nice and honest on my first playthrough, just wanted to see the differences in my second play. There were only two parts where I said "no", IIRC, both being hostage situations with the enemies saying "Hand over the object XY or we'll kill your friends!". Both times that rat Garret betrayed me, if the game had as much freedom as western RPGs I'd have executed him immediately. You have failed me for the last time!

I guess a GC GS wouldn't fall under my buy all of The Lost Age (TLA?) so that'd definitely be interesting. The combat system could use some improvements and the random encounters must be removed, though.
