With all the free'd up manufacturing machines that will be resourced to produce specifically for Europe, they will just stop producing 20GB and make more 60GB, nobody buys 20GB by choice anyway.

Hm... but will Europe care about the PS3 either? I mean, not only are they stuck with buying only the 60gb model only, but they have to pay a premium over and beyond the US and Japanese price. I'm guessing they are getting the same half-baked games too.

I currently reside in Clifton, New Jersey.

I haven't bought Star Fox yet, because I was kind of on the fence about it, then I played it, now I want it, and it's all just a matter of time before I have it, like this Saturday.
Silly monkeys; give them thumbs they make a club and beat their brother down. How they survive so misguided is a mystery. Repugnant is a creature who would squander the ability to lift an a eye to heaven conscious of his fleeting time here.

I'm pretty sure they won't and thats gonna make Sony look very bad if they don't. If they don't sell out and PS3's just sit available at every store possible, I can see 3rd parties start rethinking their exclusive/port strategies.

Looks like the DS will surpass the GBA LTD before February is over. 2-3 weeks and its onto overtaking the PS2 which I believe sits around 20/21 million in Japan. Its gonna be interesting considering it took PS2 7 years to reach that # and DS is gonna do it in 3(4 at the absolute latest).

Are you sure? The 60GB has only trivial improvements over the 20GB and I think most people would rather save those 100€. The 20GB has a price that's more competitive with the 360.

Lets rewind back to when there was a demand for PS3and there were 20GB & 60GB systems for sale in a store, the 60GB will sell out first and then when people realized they couldn't get a 60GB they would either rush of to the next store or they would let out a "sigh" and then accept the 20GB as a default. The same thing happend with the Xbox 360, people want the most for their money and to feel thay would get more for only a little but more $$$ sometimes sounds like the better deal.

Goes to show that people are stupid... You can even buy stuff at retail to prop a 20GB PS3 up to and beyond a 60GB PS3 for the same money.

Besides, do we really need two different sales threads that show the same numbers anyway?

But not Konami and Capcom, they are so stupidly stubborn that they will not rethink their plans.  Just look at Konami releasing their Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles on PSP.  They should have released it on a more viable system, PS2 or Wii (maybe DS just because.)

Capcom has stated that Devil May Cry 4 is exclusive for PS3, they will never make their money back with that game plan.

but the problem is that the 20g PS3 can't be upgraded to the same specs as the 60g PS3.  Why Sony did this is just another example of their stupid thinking.  MS at least allows the consumer to upgrade their core system to that of the premium system.

We have one to focus discussion on the consoles and the other to discuss the handhe... the DS.

The DS sales thread is the long standing one, but more people check out the Wii one, so I keep them both updated. The last couple of weeks I tried to make them atleast look different, but this week I have failed.

I always check this sales thread. I guess it's tradition. Although lately, I have been stopping by the Wii sales thread since there seems to be more discussion for it. In some ways, this thread has grown archaic. It was orginally started to watch the battle between the DS and PSP. But that battle has pretty much ended a year ago. Except for North America, which was the last holdout but even it has crumbled to the might of the DS in the last 6 months.

I guess the purpose of this thread now is to watch the DS beat the Game Boy Advance numbers and surpass the PS2. Once it's done that, I guess we could probably lay it to rest.

Is this the biggest thread on the NWR forums though? I think so but am not sure. But it should be preserved for that fact also.

" Well, seeing this thread has been up for quite a while now, lets discuss DS sales over in Japan.

And lets hope it will finally catch up to PSP in sales... considering it's been outselling DS for over 2 months now."

The problem with this thread is not enough American sales charts since those only come monthly. The PSP is doing very strong in America with an installed base at least as big as the X360's here.

Problem is the PSP software sales blow. 360 games are constantly amongst the best sellers on the US sales charts. That is very impressive, especially considering how the PS2 has a MUCH larger userbase.

This is true, I'm pretty sure the 360 has one of the highest attach rates for consoles in general. Then again, factor in its total WW sales and i'm not sure it breaks 10 mil. Either way, the 360 is selling pretty well, i wish i had comparative stats between the 360 and the original PHAT box.

Also, everyone says the psp software sales blow, but the hardware is pushing fairly well in the US, that means the software sales can't suck as bad as we think.

Amodaus: You can compare various consoles and their sales at vgcharts.org.  It may not be 100% accurate (always have to throw in that disclaimer) but it's pretty decent.  It shows that Xbox 360 is outselling Xbox by a small margin in North America, and it's selling a bit worse than the original in Japan.  I'm not sure if they have European numbers...if they do I have no idea where they're coming from.

PSP  game sales...I figure they're not as bad as some people make them out to be either, but at the same time, there's no denying that GTA is pretty much the only big "hit" the system has.  Nothing else ever seems to hit the charts.  I think a lot of casual gamers are buying PSP and as such, they buy one or two games and don't feel the need for much else.  They're buying it for its multimedia functions and the fashion.
That's my opinion, not yours.

I think Nintendo is having a plastic shortage and more production orders than they are currently equipped to handle. No one could have anticipated the massive success that is the DS and its software.
Nintendo is also just a little slow to react to it.

Like they were with hardware shortages...which incidentally, they still have not upped the production enough to meet demand.  I was amazed to see 8 DSL's sitting on a shelf at Super Walmart yesterday.  I only noticed because someone was buying one with NSMB.
