Most likely. I think they're going to continue for a while because Nintendo has to start producing DS Lite systems for other parts of the world soon. If DS sells an average of 200,000 per week, it will take 65 weeks for it to outsell PS2, assuming PS2 doesn't sell any units from now on. Nintendo need to step up their game if they want to achieve such a feat, because right now it doesn't look like it's going to happen.

Outselling the PS2 is probably a foregone conclusion. My concern is that unless they can ramp up past producing 200K per week in Japan there are people who might have to wait a solid decade before they can get one.

Maybe the stores should do some rationing... put every newborn on a wait list so that when they turn 10 they've got a pre-order. Make every elderly owner specify in his/her will who gets his when he/she dies... give priority to the people who haven't got a DS willed to them by someone likely to die in the next decade. This is a shortage people, we need to keep our wits about us!

They could always turn a blind eye to product quality, and have half their customers rebuy their system.  That's called learning from the market leader.

So, um... anyone know what the worldwide sales for Animal Crossing: Wild World is?  Seems like it should be pretty high...

literally it would be the age of ice 2: the meltdown
we know it as, ice age 2 (i think the subtitle was removed for the american version)
although i didn't know there was a ds game for it, but they usually hit up all systems with movie related games so it's not too surprising

What the Hell is wrong with the French?

FIFA Street 2?  Three versions of Tomb Raider?  And Ice Age?  Jeez.

In Japan the DS is the runaway leader.. it's a phenomenon there.

In North America, however, it's much closer. Although the DS should be ahead by a mile, it only has a slim lead. And much of that can be attributed to the fact that it launched quite a bit earlier than the PSP.

Worldwide the DS is doing much better than the PSP..

And BT 2 will pass the 2 million mark next week...As will the original. Can you say wow? Not to mention AC passed 2.5. Yowza yowza. Continued great numbers for Eigo Zuke (?) and PKMN Ranger.

Lovely lovely!

Monster Hunter Portable, at around 610,000. There's a few other PSP games at around 400,000 (Everybodys Golf, Ridge Racer, Sega Brain Training) and the rest are flops.

In North America GTALCS did pretty well; not a blockbuster but better than most PSP games.

And SEGA's Brain Training actually did that well? Wow..

Those are JPN only numbers, right? Last I saw, both Lumines and GTA: LCS were in a million-range.

I was hoping DQ Yangus would garner a little more interest. I guess there was almost a 0% chance of US localization in the first place, but if it can't sell any better than that in Japan, it's probably going to die a quiet death.
