Just remember that alot, and I mean alot of sales came from online sales this year(Amazon.com, Toysrus.com, walmart.com, etc,etc.). Supposedly online sales were up 30% or something like that from last year, so expect NPD to become less and less accurate.

And also if MK DS & GTA LCS were to both sell 250,000, GTA would be ranked higher because GTA cost $50 while MK cost $30.

supposedly these #'s are correct and NPD's are off

But then why would Sony withhold the PSP numbers, if they're so close to the DS?

And yeah, I also read that NPD sales don't account for many stores like Toys R Us - they probably extrapolate and give as good an estimate as possible. That's not really fair, but that's life...

Oh yeah, never mind that 577,000 number for Animal Crossing WW, Media Create sucks. Dengeki is better, they have it at 686,000, they also have Mario Kart slightly higher at 220,000. Mario Kart DS launch week sales are higher than MKSC and MKDD, so there's nothing to worry about there, Mario Kart has legs fueled by petrol.

Rough hardware numbers so far.

DS - 300,000
PSP - 100,000
Xbox 360 = 54,000

Anyone looking for an Xbox 360...but doesn't mind risking limited region-free gaming should look to Japan. You could sell the Japanese 360 when you get a US/EU system...but I don't think anyone would want to buy it. Nevermind, bad idea. I just wanted to point out that the 360 is already dead in the water in Japan.

Maybe Microsoft shouldn't have tried to jumpstart the next generation just because they didn't like the position they were in. So, not only did the Xbox 360 have a bad Japanese launch, but it sold less than the original Xbox did when it launched in Japan.
