Thanks for the effort.  Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure that September NPD numbers for PSP were never released for some reason.

NPD really sucks.  First they combined GBA and DS numbers, now PSP numbers are completely missing.

They were... just quite late. I'd have to dig around GA to find them but the number came in at less than the DS.

Got it...

Sept NPD

DS - 168,000
PSP - 146,000

Side note, check out the Micro sales in September:

GBA Micro = 22,500 (ouchies... that's hella low)

Thanks for the info joeposh.  Even though you like to steal bandwidth from others, you still rock.

Artimus - September NPD numbers were missing PSP sales info.  Apparently, the figures were released sometime later, but it wasn't widely publicized (at least not where I hang out).

Where did you guys get the UK Numbers? Is there a website that keeps track of all of that, kind of like Media Create for Japan? There are too many fanboys that get all rilled up when they see the DS beating the PSP, I need a good source.

Where the heck did this Pac Pix resurgance come from? Over 11k in sales last month which makes up over a third of it's total sales. Horray for Castlevania! Those sales put it in position to be one of the best selling handheld Castlevania's ever (although it will be hard pressed to pass Circle of the Moon's over 400k in sales). Trauma center did quite well for such an unconvential game and hopefully good word of mouth will help give it legs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney hasn't exactly lit the world on fire but was a rather low key release that came towards the middle of the month (not to mention it only seems to be carried by EB and Gamestop).

I can't believe that Trauma Center sold more than Advance Wars.  That's ... sad.  I'm also sorry to see Phoenix Wright not do so hot.  I still need to pick that one up one of these days.

I'm happy for Trauma Center, it's a great game (although it does get frustratingly difficult near the end). Advance Wars definately took a big dip this month though. After a strong 2nd month I was hoping it could sustain moderately high numbers through the holidy. Hopefully the Christmas rush will give it a nice bump.

Someone from GAF does these totals in this layout, but I add them up myself just to be sure. Nintendogs climbed up a few more spots, Pac Pix, Trace Memory, Lunar and Kirby made up places and a VERY impressive debut from Castlevania. Pretty bad sales for Metroid Prime Pinball, and Phoenix Wright too, but Capcom only have themselves to blame for that.

So it's Sony who's restricting sales info, and not NPD being incompetent recording the sales. That's very hmm-worthy. Hmm.... So what's the reason for the obfuscated GBA/DS numbers?

You should include a "Nintendogs (all versions)" kind of thing in the future if you don't mind, that way we can see where it stacks up with all of them together (although it's fairly obviously in second behind Mario 64...but when other titles like Mario Kart start to catch up).

Does anyone think anything will surpass the overally Mario 64 numbers?  My money is on Mario Kart, but I still don't know if it could catch it.  Then again if Nintendogs gets a holliday boost then who knows?

Only when DS was selling less than PSP. Now that PSP is selling less than DS, Sony is exercising the same right that Nintendo was, withholding/combinding #'s.

What is there to combine with the PSP though? At least in the GBA/DS case you could ignoratly say, "well, they are both handhelds and both made by Nintendo so lets combine them in one sum" NPD was the one doing the combining anyway though, right?

Umm considering that it was on sale for less than a week and still managed to debut at number 3 on the overall sales chart is rather impressive. Obviously it isn't moving at the same rate as it's console counter parts, but it also dealing with a much smaller userbase at this point.

That said, those aren't exactly electrifying numbers... I'm sure it will sell well through the holidays but it doesn't seem to be the "Killer App" that the PSP so desperately needs. It also doesn't surprise me that system sales didn't rise along with the game sales.... after all the majority of current PSP owners have been waiting anxiously for this game for months, and thus I think many of the sales went to pre-existing PSP owners.
