20 of the top 30 are DS games. DS sales don't seem to be phased at all by the PS3 launch. No surprise the PS3 games sold so poorly. Gonna be nice to see the DS outsell the PS3 too
Currently Playing: Twilight Princess(Wii), Castlevania: PoR(DS), Mario vs. Donkey Kong2(DS), Wii sports(Wii)

Speaking of Gundam sales, does anyone recall what Bandai's "Target Sales" were for the game?

I think they've got patience, they know that at the current shipment numbers it's going to take a few months before the PS3 has even shipped enough to allow sales numbers like that.

I'd say that depends on when they set the target.  If it was set back at E3...well, nobody expected shortages like this at that time.

Does anyone know what Sony's "refresh" rate on new shipments to Japan is even going to be?  And how often do these shipments make it to the various stores for restocking?

You know, it's possible that until after the European launch in March the PS3 will never have enough systems to outsell the DS, let alone the potential Wii sales.

Its supposed to be 100k a week, but Sony is only gonna be able to provide around 30k for atleast next week. This news popped up just before the news of Sony almost halving the U.S. shipments from 400k down to somewhere closer to 250k for launch. Basically, Sony is getting hit hard lately, and I doubt the bad news stops anytime soon.

Another victory for the DSL.  Now I'll laugh if it beats the Wii next week making it a juggernaut.

All the Sony Platforms combined are still 31,255 less than the DS Lite alone. Nintendo is obviously doomed.

Actually, PS3, PS2, and PSP combined might match DS sales.  I guess it depends on if Nintendo added enough new stock.

It was too easy to call, sad to say though, next week could be worse(PS3 restock?).
What would be funny is if DS in Japan outsells PS3 @ the U.S. launch.

PS2 took a pretty big dive after the PS3 launch.  I'm surprised, considering how few people actually got one.

I personally doubt PS3 will ever sell more than 100,000 in one week in Japan this year.  Where is Sony going to get those magical extra PS3s when they could only provide 80,000 on the first day - after months of ramp-up time?

Isn't the DS selling around 400,000 or so per month lately in the US? That's comparable to the launch total of the PS3... and with the release of killer games like Pokemon, FF III, and others, well, you never know. DS might surpass PS3 in the USA as well.
is your sanity...

Wii and DS  will probably both outsell PS3 for Novebmer just because Sony has such poor shipment numbers.

A lot of sites think Sony actually only had around 250,000 or so for the US launch, so there's a very good chance DS will outsell PS3 for the month.

Sony better pray the PS3 sells well, because the PSP is sinking like a rock, and the software is already submerged.

NPD October
Portable Hardware
Total DS: 360,414
PSP: 130,466

Portable Software
DS software: 1,364,809
GBA software: 1,283,132
PSP software: 653,340

Do they mention SP hardware sales too? It would be mockably funny if the PSP was still getting its ass handed to it 2:1 by 5 year old tech.

edit: Ha. Yes, even funnier if the SP outsold the PS3 even....

FFIII disappointed me by not making the top ten this time around.

I still don't know what FTW means.

I want the damn Wii numbers already.

It's a shame that NPD doesn't count Wal*Mart.  I'd love to see GameBoy Micro sales for November...

The whole WalMart thing is continually baffling. Surely they go through at least half as many systems and games as the others combined. The NPD needs to figure out how to get data from them. Japan is so much better at this thing...

Last I knew they include wal*mart, but because wal*mart won't give them numbers they just estimate. I've seen lots of people want to assume wild or random estimates, but when I subtract Japanese and European numbers from World sales totals, NPD's numbers are spot on.
