It is not public record Metaknight is the best, it's the personal opinion of a small group of people. And.a good player playing as someone else will still beat a good player using Metaknight. In the end, it comes down to skill, plain and simple. As for tripping, I was just saying that in my experience it was really rare.

All I know is I wish Link and Samus weren't as weak as they are compared to most other characters, because I'd like to play as them more. Brawl is still my favorite game in the series, but I think the balance is a significant issue that I hope they addresss in the next one.

Seamus was my favorite in the first two games, in Melee alone I clocked several hundred hours with her. So I hated that they nerfed her in Brawl.

Groundskeeper Willie's enemy Seamus was a character in Smash Bros.? How do I unlock him?

Of course there are balancing problems in a game with dozens of characters and no patches. Bigger issue with Brawl was having all the unlockables tied to Subspace Emissary mode which was total garbage. Oh, wait, I didn't finish Subspace Emissary so I'm not allowed to criticize it just in case the jumping physics stop being **** about 20 levels in!

You do realize all the unlockable characters, and most CD's and stickers that are in the Subspace Emissary can be gotten in multiplayer as well?  Yes, the Subspace Emissary is a quicker way to get them but if you didn't finish the mode because you hated it, your not missing much that can't be unlocked else were in the game.

That's been one of the nice things about Smash Bros with Melee and Brawl.  If people have problems with the single player, they can still play just the multiplayer and unlock all the characters and stages, as well as most trophies, stickers and CD's as well.

I'd be in favor of just having all the characters unlocked from the beginning, and leave stickers and whatever to unlocks.

It's actually everyone but you. You can deny deny deny but you can't change reality. Who do you think is best anyway, if anyone?

Please, you are embarrassing yourself at this point. Just because you are obsessed with fighting games doesn't make you the authority on them, nor do you speak for everyone. I am not changing reality, but stating that you are wrong. And some of these tier lists are jokes, Diddy Kong songs but I have seen some tier lists put him near the top. I have never met someone who was good with him and I can easily beat him with anyone. I can do well with almost anyone, and when facing someone of equal or lesser skill my experience shows that it doesn't matter. I am pretty good with Marth though.

Why can't we enjoy the satire of this wonderful piece without arguing about SSBBrawl? Or are we trying to be ironic?

Welcome to NWR, miss. Is this your first time here? Some of our members come with a sense of humor. Others ruin threads with their lack of one. Would you like to hear about our specials or do you need a minute?

It's a funny article and I enjoyed it! I didn't open that can of worms and would like to take balance discussion elsewhere. Like the funhouse :faust:

It doesn't matter how good I am, my points stand on their own. Tier lists are amalgamated from tournament results and input from expert players, and are under constant scrutiny. They're easy to prove wrong, if you enter tournaments and wreck everyone with a "bad" character. I doubt it will happen though, since you can't seem to grasp what makes good characters good or even how basic mechanics like slips work. I urge you to post a balance thread somewhere so we can bury this can of worms elsewhere.

Wavedashing tech has nothing to do with why Brawl is the weakest of the series. Character balance and terrible design decisions like random slips do, though! Kill all casuals.

I only have a notebook sheet that my friend logged all of our time before resetting the memory card... and that was in the middle of the school year in 2006 with me over a week's time in.  I could have it notorized :)

All the games have balancing.  That's just the nature of a dynamic character roster.  It's infinitely regressive to ask for balance because the ideal balance would be all the characters were exactly the same.  Melee had much more balancing issues because of the exploits.  Those were fixed in Brawl.  In exchange, we have to endure prat falling (which is annoying, yes, but a danger we all deal with).  I love Melee and Brawl wholeheartedly, but it's troubling that Melee players can't let go of Melee.  This is because of general comfort zones and not wanting to adapt to a new style.  If you try to play Brawl like you play Melee, you're going to be disappointed.  It is a beautiful game that changes the focus to a more aerial and economic take on your tactics.  The tier lists can change more because of it because the game demands creativity.  Just a new way doesn't make it wrong or worse.

Either way, trying to make Smash like other fighters is a trap.  It's not a fighter, it's smash.  I do think third parties need more rep too.  I'd love to see Megaman from the battle network series show.
