The third entry in the popular Call of Duty series will hit the Wii after all.

A Wii version of the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has been confirmed by Activision during an investor's call. Treyarch is developing the Wii edition.

Despite the most recent game in the series, Black Ops, making an appearance on the system, Activision had yet to confirm if the third game in the Modern Warfare series would be available for the Wii. It was, however, suspected that the game would be a reality due to the fact that PDP had shown off a special Headbanger Headset for the game.

Treyarch developed Modern Warfare: Reflex, Call of Duty: Black Ops, and earlier games in the Call of Duty series for Wii. Infinity Ward is in charge of the game on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

No surprise really, Call of Duty games tend to sell around a million on the Wii which makes them worth the conversion effort. Though it would be a little weird if they never released Modern Warfare 2 on the Wii, so I wonder if that will come at some point as well.

No. I would bet money on it never coming to the Wii. If it was going to, it would have done so a year ago. MW3 is just MW2 on steroids anyway so no one will care. Technically MW1 never came to the Wii either, because Reflex is different in some respects.

Why would Activision invest the resources to put MW2 on the Wii when MW2 would be in direct competition with MW3 and would be the inferior version to boot? That would be like EA putting Madden 12 and Madden 13 out at the same time. Obviously everyone would just buy Madden 13 since it would be more up to date and superior. The only time anyone buys Madden games are when they are current. The newest one is always the most preferable, and that's how it is with COD games as well.

What's the opposite of "promoting a game"? Demoting? Dismoting? Ignoring?
I just find it strange that we have to badger Activision into admitting the Wii version is coming.

Is it shame? Worry that people may think the screens are from the HD versions and say they look awful compared to Battlefield 3? Black ops was really good on Wii I heard, and did quite well, what's the big deal?

No screens, videos or real info exist for this version yet, baffling.

Since the Wii version is said to be different (compared to them in the past trying to make sure the Wii version was as similar as possible as the PC/360/PS3 versions) I wonder if they might just combine content from Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare 3 (at least single player wise) but keep the multiplayer purely MW3. Clearly the Wii this time around isn't going to be able to replicate, even downgraded, all the content from MW3. I doubt they'll make content exclusively for the Wii but there is a whole other game that didn't release on it in the past that they can pull from.

If the Wii version really is different I might just have to double dip at some point.

The PC version first and then the Wii version sometime later when it's dropped in price. Unless the Wii version looks surprisingly good then I might just skip the PC version and use that money toward another game.

Not a great analogy because believe it or not COD games have a story, and I'd wager there are some people, who don't play multiplayer at all, who care about the story. MW3's story follows on within hours of the end of the story in MW2, and with player playing through the first part of the story with Reflex it's weird that there's just going to be this giant chunk of story missing between the two games.

If MW3 includes the campaign and spec ops from MW2, that would be a real treat for Wii's MW3.

Since Treyarch is handling the port there is a possibility there may be zombies. Infinity Ward doesn't do zombies in their COD games, but Treyarch does so that's a possibility.

It didn't happen with Reflex and at the time the game was a 2 year old port, I wouldn't hold your breath.

I didn't say it was certain or even likely. I just said it was possible.

But the chances of zombies being bundled in this are probably greater than they were back when Reflex was released because what they could easily do is take some of the zombie modes that they have already made for Black Ops but were not included in the Wii version of Black Ops and then just toss them in with MW3 instead. Like Call of the Dead or the new Shagri-La which came in the third map pack. Since these apparently aren't coming to the Wii version of Black Ops they might as well get tossed in with MW3, especially since they are already done so the only thing to do is just port them over...

It may come out a few days or weeks after the other versions, but I seriously doubt Activision would want to miss the holiday release window. They may cut corners to make it happen.... which would be unfortunate but that's business.

Since Treyarch is making all the call of duty games for wii im thinking its because they are losing money and copying the best know firstperson shooter series games that Activision made was the answer. I believe that making these wii games are the only thing keeping Treyarch alive. There main interest? people who have no money to buy ps3 and xbox and people who only have a wii console. I mean if all the cool games are coming out for wii now, why do i have to buy an xbox and ps3 that costs alot more? Just to get better graphics?

Treyarch makes every other Call of Duty game, so I don't think it would matter if the Wii versions came out or not.

I think i read an article that said that call of duty MDW3 for wii will come out on december. Not to sure but if it does i'm going to defenitly get it.

Treyarch made Black Ops which set and holds the record for the best selling COD (actually I think best selling any game) of all time. So I don't think you know what you're talking about. They do much more than Wii ports.
