so what was it? it doesnt sound like the remote thing for me... or was the motion sensor?

D'oh. Forgot to post a follow-up. What he heard was motion sensitivity and a modular design. Neither were huge surprises. They've been rumored for a while... Didn't know about the shape, though.

IceCold RIGHT (no gyros {+1/2]) (no full 3-d) 1.5 wrong (donairs) (MARZIPAN) (haptics) (d-pad combined with trackball in the middle) (different type of feedback) 5 wrong, but no score (trailers) (mention of something embedded in the Revolution) (BRILLIANT online interface demo) uncertain (talking about Retro and Miyamoto’s IPS) (no pikmin) (every single other rumor, besides gyros and full 3-d, on the net is false)
score: -3.5

WINNER: Ian Sane, with 8.5 points

SECOND PLACE: TIE between Nile Boogie and Stevey (yes, really), with 6 points each.

---SPECIAL AWARDS--

The early-predictor award goes to Don’tHate, for being the first person (that I know of) to draw a two-piece controller design.

The shucks-for-you award goes to Nile Boogie, for having an overall better idea of what the controller would be than both the winner and the person he tied with.

The losers are winners too award goes to Bill Aurion, for having the worst score: ---3 points.
[edit] Whoops, sorry, this award actually goes to IceCold., with -3.5 points.

The beating the system award goes to Stevey, for obvious reasons.

The Trogdor award goes to Strell.

And, finally, the ego-stroking award goes to me: because I deserve an award for predicting, in other threads, that Nintendo would/should opt for a primary button-secondary button setup instead of a traditional 4-button setup. Yeah.

Okay, then. IanSane, if you give me your address, I’ll send a box of frookies to you. Congrats.

Phew!  Glad I rethought my first guess and decided that a 2 piece setup would be the way to go with motion sensing.  The thing to remember is we haven't seen the shell.  The shell might include a lot of what we predicted and I think if the classic controller has it then it counts

Ya there are gyros...

It's gyros and a bluetooth sensor (which allows the REV to know how far away you are...or even where you are corresponding to the tv). It's the combination of these two that make the REV controller what it is.

Sorry, no can do. MAYBE I'll get you a box of animal frackers.

Alright, fine. I'll do a recount when everything's revealed, sheesh. In the unlikely event of a new winner, that person will also get a box of frookies.

Alright, fine. One extra point for Mario. His score his now 1. He still loses. No cookies for Mario.

Ya there are gyros..

I know there are internal sensors for determining pitch and yaw, but I didn't think the controller had actual gyros. I could be wrong, though.

"I know there are internal sensors for determining pitch and yaw, but I didn't think the controller had actual gyros. I could be wrong, though."

Actually I'm not positive myself. Either way, what is inside the controller is developed by Gyration

As for the link that describes the whole process....

[L]http://cube.ign.com/articles/651/651559p1.html[/L]

Heres the more important part (though it is a good read)....

Quote

The remote-like peripheral, which has been called the "free-hand style controller" and "pointer" by Nintendo, interacts with a sensor bar placed above, below, or near televisions. The bar contains two sensors that communicate with the controller using Bluetooth technology. The marriage transforms the pointer into a virtual wand of sorts, enabling users to move objects and characters in games simply by moving the peripheral. The sensors read the pointer's every move in real-time space. They can detect up, down, left and right motion, and also translate forward and backward depth. The controller's sensors also recognize twisting, rotating and tilting movements. In short, any motion made by arms and wrists can be translated to Revolution games.

This controller sensor could be anything, but then again on Gyrations website they have listed a functional gyro-mechanic that recognizes twisting, rotating, and tiliting movements while still being very durable, very small, and very cheap.
