Nintendo Gaming / Pre-order?
« on: April 29, 2006, 01:41:19 PM »
Are any places taking pre-orders yet on the Wii?  I know that Gamestop took them for the Xbox 360 pretty early on even before the price was announced...

Nintendo Gaming / RE:sort of dissapointed
« on: July 07, 2004, 05:26:10 AM »
I have a few Live games for my Xbox.  I really don't use that feature all that much.  It was fun at first and it still is sometimes today.  On the whole, I am not sure it is worth the $50 bucks.  I am a devoted online gamer, but not with the Xbox with the PC.  The biggest problem with Live is the rudeness of many of the people.  The game is SUPPOSED to be fun; IT IS NOT REAL LIFE.  That doesn't mean that you can't get into it, but I disagree with how many of my fellow players dealt with situations and treated people.  I guess it is easy to treat people that way when you're hiding behind a broadband connection and a microphone.

All of that being said, I do believe that Online has a lot of potential.  It will only take time to realize.  With a few exceptions, online console gaming is relatively new.  I am sure and hopeful that it will get better!

General Gaming / RE:What game gave you most satisfaction by beating it
« on: October 18, 2003, 04:47:25 PM »
Hmm... this could be tough.

Atari- MoonPatrol
NES- The Legend of Zelda/Metroid/MegaMan/Dragon Warrior
SNES-Final Fantasy III
N64-Mario 64/Goldeneye
GCN-hmm...have lots o' games, but haven't beaten many of them!  (Luigi's Mansion was more a demo than a full game--though fun; I was always a fan of Ghostbusters!)  Dang job gets in the way of playing games.
PC-Starcraft and Broodwar
GB-Tetris Game B level 9-5
GBA-Metroid Fusion--well it is the only one I've beaten.

I think that sums it up.

I have spent a lot of time playing this game along with the subsequent expansion pack.  It has a single player story type mode, but the real great part of this game is the online play and especially the Lan play.  I am lucky enough to have friends that get together to Lan.  We play this game for hours on end.  It would be interesting to see how this game would translate to the cube.  There many different vehicles you can control from subs to tanks to airplanes.  We will have to see if this is only a rumor or not!

Kickoff in 21 days.  Go Lions!

Wow! We all know the Lions stink--hopefully they turn it around this year.  As a Michigander, I feel it is my duty to stick by the one and only Lions!!!

Going to pickup Madden today.  I haven't actually owned a version of Madden since Madden 64 though I have played the PS2 version a lot.

So which version should I get, the Gamecube or XBox??  I am inclined to go with the Gamecube as I like the controller better but favor the Xbox because I don't want to purchase another memory card.  I already have 3, 251 memory block cards and the Xbox HD has oodles of space.

Simple as that.
YAY!

Remember people predicting that the Xbox was doomed from the start a few years back.  The prognosticators were not quite accurate. It is no more doomed than the Gamecube as worldwide sales are fairly equal between the two.  (It appears that Gamecube is only slightly ahead)

Nintendo Gaming / What game I'd like to see for the Gamecube
« on: July 21, 2003, 08:30:00 AM »
I would like to see the return of the original Final Fantasy series (I understand that Crystal Chronicles is a Final Fantasy game though not in the same vein as the first 10!)  Call me old school, but I miss the old style RPGs.  I have had to fill the FF void with Skies of Arcadia, which mind you is not a terrible thing at all.  Does anyone remember an interview a long time ago where someone from Square stated that FFXII would be on the cube or am I just wishing that were true!?!

Nintendo Gaming / damn Dust under SP screen!!
« on: April 04, 2003, 05:13:38 AM »
The first SP I purchased had dust under the screen.  I wasn't going to make a stink about it, but I figured that I spent a $100 for a product free from defect.  I don't think you are being an 'arse'.  If the dust is interfering with your enjoyment of games, by all means, you have a right to take it back.

Nintendo Gaming / Can i play GC on my computer?
« on: April 04, 2003, 05:08:25 AM »
I purchased the VGA Cable from Goldenshop.  It simply is a modded component video cable with a VGA end on it.  It works great, however, the games need to work in progressive scan for them to display on your monitor--at least for most monitors.  If you don't have an HDTV, this is a cheap alternative.  As a side note, you may need a gender changer for the cable to work on you monitor.

Nintendo Gaming / P.S.O Question
« on: March 27, 2003, 04:53:49 AM »
I, on the other hand, have found PSO to be a fun game in both online and offline mode.  The $9 a month is a little steep, but that doesn't negate how fun the game is.  I would recommend this game to those who are fans of the genre.

Nintendo Gaming / GBA SP problems
« on: March 22, 2003, 05:28:36 PM »
I purchased a SP last Thursday from Wal-Mart and it had dust under the screen.  The dust under the screen did not interfere too badly, but I figure I paid $100 for a product that should be free from defect.  I returned to Wal-Mart today and they replaced it.  The new SP has no problems with dust under the screen.

I am not sure if something has been in the works for over 2 years, but I do remember Hideo Kojima saying that he was very interested in developing something for the Gamecube quite a while ago.  I will try to find the article and provide a link.  Does this sound familiar to anyone else?

Last week I picked up this game.  I am also an avid player of RPGs and have played almost every Final Fantasy. There have not been enough RPG type games on Nintendo systems as of late. So far, SOA has been great.    I have not finished it yet, but up to this point, I have few complaints.  I never had a Dreamcast so I couldn't experience SOA then, but I am glad I paid the $50 to have the experience now.

Nintendo Gaming / have you ever been so bored with AC
« on: March 04, 2003, 04:42:08 AM »
I can say that I have never been bored with this game and I have played the heck out of it.  There is almost always something new to do or at least, I enjoy doing all the collecting.  I am sure there will come a point and time when I will get bored; however, even though I have been playing since October, I have yet to reach that point.

Nintendo Gaming / Pilotwings!?
« on: March 03, 2003, 04:55:05 AM »
One of my favorite games for the Super Nintendo was Pilotwings.  I love Pilotwings of the N64 even more.  It was the first time in a game where I felt free.  It was fun just flying around as the birdman or with the rocketpack.  I would love to see another Pilotwings!

Nintendo Gaming / Bonus Dicscs out already?!
« on: February 10, 2003, 08:54:28 AM »
I just received my bonus disk today!  Like other people, I was expecting to receive it on Wednesday.  I did not realize that there would be previews for other games, although on second thought, it makes sense for Nintendo to do that.  I have had trouble ordering games from EBgames before; this time, they came through.  OoT is one of my favorite games of all time and I am excited to play it once more.
