I forgot my pre-order came with a soundtrack. Nice.
WHEN YOU'RE GONE
WHEN YOU'RE GONE
I'm a big fan of "When You're Gone" and "Hell Frozen Rain", myself. I wasn't fond of "Acceptance" at first since that little piano + music box ditty is a bit over-used in the game, but it grew on me over time. "Always on my Mind" has an awesome beginning for a Silent Hill song, but then gets progressively worse as the song goes along (the exact opposite of "Acceptance", now that I think about it).
I just finished playing through the entire game a second time, making different decisions in a few places (though not radically different decisions). While I ended up with new puzzles (yay!); a few new locations; a few new lines of dialogue; and a few characters in new places, it was pretty much the same experience (though ,interestingly, listing "Religion" as a favorite class this time resulted in God-oriented text being in interesting places for a more traditional "Silent Hill" experience). Hell, I even got the same ending, which disappointed me a bit. I guess I'll have to be more bold in going just completely 180 degrees from my first playthrough answers. I did notice the music more this time, though it's still the most passive and forgettable Silent Hill soundtrack I've heard since Silent Hill 4's.
This may sound strange, but playing this game I'm kind of reminded of the developers of Heavy Rain, who said that they intended their game to be played through once because the journey is so personal and tailored just to you. Playing through the second time, for some reason I didn't
want to make different choices in most cases. I don't know if it's because the questions are of such a personal nature, but it's odd because I usually have no problem doing things completely opposite to my personality in other games (especially other Silent Hill games).
Incidentally, the endings are starting to show up on Youtube, and from the looks of it this game's UFO Ending is one of the funniest in the series (it even has Jaaaaaaaaames Sunderland in a cute series in-joke).
