Mega Man’s Five Best and Worst Robot Masters

Worst Robot Masters

Some really awful bots.

Centaur Man

The absurdity of Centaur Man didn't even enter my mind until a friend of mine brought it up to me years ago. You see, he's called Centaur Man, but Centaurs aren't men. They aren't human at all. Therefore, this guy makes the wall of shame.

Junk Man

Junk Man has always felt like the creation of people out of ideas. He's a robotic piece of trash. Now that I've said that, I'm sure we will inevitably see a Trash Man down the road.

Other franchises have turned to trashy characters as well, like Pokémon, but for some reason growing up this guy got a chuckle out of me over how stupid he was.

Tengu Man

What do you get when you take a Japanese cultural icon and turn it into a major character that would make little sense outside of the country that develops Mega Man? Tengu Man, that's who. I can only imagine Capcom's American marketing team ripping their hair out over this guy. As a player, I had no idea what a Tengu even was.

While this character may make sense in Japan, elsewhere he was probably a complete mystery to players at the time, myself included. As a result, Tengu Man is on this list.

Time Man & Oil Man

Time Man and Oil Man were retconned into the Mega Man franchise in the PSP remake of the original Mega Man, Mega Man Powered Up. Their existence doesn't make any sense as far as the real Mega Man plot is concerned, and their weird Robot Master numbering only proves as such.

Since the Powered Up series didn't continue I like to think of them as only existing in some alternate Mega Man universe that doesn't have any relation to the true story canon. I personally just find the whole notion of their existence dumb which is why these two are listed.
