Designing a Metroid Game Within Super Mario Maker

The Hard Work Paying Off

by Justin Berube - September 29, 2015, 5:23 pm EDT

Making other players happy, the ultimate reward in Super Mario Maker.

After putting hours of effort into an experience like this you may be asking, how does it feel? The answer is exhausting, but also rewarding.

Most of the reward factor comes from great comments on Miiverse from people who really appreciate what you've done. I'll share some of these comments below.

(Note: Not all comments come from the latest version of the stage.)

In the end Super Mario Maker may have some flaws, and we may want more features and items added. But even factoring in those complaints Super Mario Maker is still an incredible experience and without it I wouldn't have learned anything about what is must be like, to some degree, to design a game. It's hard work, but if you do a good job you will probably feel very rewarded.

So in order to get an article about how we made our level, do we have to be a staff member or does it just have to be a work of art?

Either way, challenge accepted. You've put in an absurd amount of work, so I salute you.
