What to Expect on Nintendo Platforms in 2015

Will the list of retail software coming to 3DS ever end?

Fire Emblem

The first thing that we saw in the most recent Nintendo Direct was that a new Fire Emblem is on the way! Brought to you by the same team that brought us the great Fire Emblem: Awakening in 2013. Not much is known about the upcoming release other than it’s very similar to the original 3DS title. In Japan, the game is known as Fire Emblem If and it’s due to be released this summer. If that is the case, it’s very possible that we’ll be able to get our hands on the next entry in the Fire Emblem series sooner rather than later.

Theatrhythm Dragon Quest

We finally have confirmation that Theatrhythm: Dragon Quest is a thing that’s happening, and I’m super excited. I’ve always felt that Dragon Quest had better music than Final Fantasy. It’s a little more whimsical, with more classical overtones. The game hits Japan on March 26th, so hopefully a Western release isn’t far behind. The gameplay looks decidedly similar, which is fine, but I find the addition of first-person battle stages charming. My distain for the Theathrhythm art style is well-established, so I’m not necessarily looking forward to how my dear Jessica (DQXIII) is butchered into looking like a dead-eyed doll. Still, more Theathrhythm is always a good thing!

Rhythm Heaven 3DS

During the latest Japanese Nintendo Direct we learned about that a new Rhythm Heaven game is making its way to the Nintendo 3DS. There is no word yet on a western release, but it is very likely. Stay tuned!

Style Savvy 3

The third entry in the Style Savvy franchise was also announced in Japan during the last Nintendo Direct. The previous two games in the series made it to the west, so don’t be surprised if the brand new Style Savvy game eventually makes it overseas.

Great Detective Pikachu

Not much is known about this upcoming mystery game starring Pikachu, other than yes, it’s a detective game featuring Pikachu in which you explore a city and gather clues. What is interesting about this title is that Pikachu’s emotions will be seen quite clearly throughout the game as its face, along with other Pokémon you come across in the game, have been motion captured by staff members. The game will also feature a Blue Pikachu, which sounds interesting, right? Details are still scant on this title, but it is scheduled for a 2015 release, so we’ll know more about it in due time.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3D

NA Release Date: April 2015

Preview: Xenoblade Chronicles 3D Hands-on Impressions

The hit Wii game Xenoblade Chronicles is being ported to the New Nintendo 3DS. That's right, those of you who upgrade to Nintendo's latest handheld will be able to play this massive open world RPG on the go. If you missed out on Xenoblade Chronicles the first time, or are just curious about Shulk after playing the new Smash Bros., this could be the easiest way to experience it.

Why are your news stories so short?  I know you can only report on info you have, but man, there is no substance to any of these articles.

This is a massive 10 page Feature. The first page is a short intro created to describe the Feature in its entirety before going more in depth. Please use the table of contents on the right hand side of the page to navigate the different pages and to see the real meat of this particular article.

I hope that helps. :)

This is a ten page feature, so I think there's at least a certain degree of substance to it.

Forgot Steamworld Heist was coming.  That looks interesting.  I really need to get there first Steamworld game which is tower defense and looks interesting.

Technically Star Fox has a Release Date of Before Zelda.  I'm looking forward to being able to actually play Xenoblade.

First of all you missed Metroid Prime Trilogy out tomorrow on Wii U.

Second, this never dawned on me. When I saw the Fire Emblem Amiibo integration with Codename: S.T.E.A.M. during the Nintendo Direct I just assumed that meant that Ike, Robin, and Lucina Amiibo would release by March 13th at the latest, but this makes it sound like Robin and Lucina aren't very likely to come by then. I was going to skip Ike and grab Robin and Lucina (I loved Awakening, but I've never played any of the other FE games so I have no emotional attachment to Ike or Marth) Now I'm wondering if I need to try and find Marth and Ike so I can enjoy the Amiibo side of Codename: STEAM

Just to clarify things, we did not include Virtual Console titles on this list. While the Wii Download games on Wii U are technically not called Virtual Console, they are in a sense. It's for that reason they did not make the list.

As far as release dates go, they are only shown on this Feature if the exact month of the release is known (at a minimum). Anything else I felt had a higher chance of slipping out of its "Release Window" so it doesn't have a release date listed.

Please Understand!

This is gonna be a good year, even if Zelda falls into 2016. There are six full priced retail games that I plan on buying on that list. Nine if Star Fox and Project Giant Robot/Guard are good and separate games. Ten if I cave and don't wait for a sale or price drop for Kirby Rainbow Curse.

I'd also like to purchase Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze and Captain Toad at some point.

Maybe I'll hold off til 2016 on that PS4 purchase.

I don't expect all of this stuff to release in 2015, but it's a nice summation anyway.
